turn based strategy games online
Alright, let’s yak about them turn-based strategy games online, you know, the ones where you gotta think a bit before you do somethin’. Not like them fast-paced shooty games my grandson plays, all clickety-clack, no time to even scratch your nose.
What are these turn-based thingies anyway?
Well, from what I gather, these games are all about takin’ your sweet time. You get your turn, then the other fella gets his, and so on. It’s like chess, but, you know, with more… stuff. You ain’t just movin’ little wooden fellas around; sometimes you got armies, sometimes you got cities, sometimes you got weird creatures with too many eyes. Makes an old lady dizzy just thinkin’ about it.
Where can ya find ‘em?
Now, this here internet thing, it’s got all sorts of places to find these games. My grandson showed me somethin’ called “*.” Sounds like a rash, don’t it? But they got a whole mess of games there, all sorts. And they got these “tags,” little labels that tell ya what kind of game it is. You look for the ones that say “Turn-based Strategy,” and you’ll find a whole bunch of ‘em. They got games where you gotta manage armies, games where you build stuff, games where you fight monsters… you name it, they got it. Lots of ’em are HTML5 games too, which I guess means they work on most anythin’, even this old computer my nephew gave me.

- War stuff: Some games got you commandin’ armies, like in them old war movies. You gotta think where to put your fellas, what weapons to use, all that jazz. There’s one they call “Warnament Supporter’s Pack,” sounds fancy, but my guess is it’s just more war stuff.
- Building things: Then you got games where you gotta build stuff, like cities or bases or somethin’. “Folder Dungeon” is one of them, I hear. Sounds like a dark and dusty place, not my cup of tea, but the young’uns seem to like it.
- Puzzle-like games: And some are just puzzles, but with extra steps. “Solitomb” sounds like one of them. Like solitaire, but probably with more… tombs. I ain’t sure I wanna be messin’ with no tombs at my age.
- Political games: They even got games about politics! Can you believe it? “Geopolitics” they call it. Like runnin’ a country or somethin’. Sounds complicated, I’ll stick to watchin’ the news, thank you very much.
Why folks like ‘em?
I asked my grandson, the one with the clickety-clack games, why folks like these slow-paced things. He said it’s ’cause you gotta use your brain. You can’t just run in guns blazin’; you gotta plan, you gotta think ahead, you gotta… strategize, I think he called it. Sounds like hard work to me, but I guess some folks like that sort of thing. It gives you time to think, you know? Not like life, where things just keep comin’ at ya, whether you’re ready or not.
Are they any good?
Well, that depends on what you like, I reckon. Some of ‘em look mighty pretty, with all them fancy graphics. My grandson showed me one called “Wasteland 3,” set in a snowy place. Said it had an 84% rating on somethin’ called “Steam.” Sounded like a good number, so I guess folks like it. There are other places too, like “Armor Games”, they got a bunch of these turn-based games too. They say they hand-pick ’em, so maybe they’re the good ones. You just gotta find what tickles your fancy, I guess.
So, should ya play ‘em?
Look, I ain’t gonna tell ya what to do. If you like thinkin’ and plannin’ and takin’ your time, then maybe these games are for you. If you like things fast and furious, then maybe stick to them shooty games. But if you’re lookin’ for somethin’ different, somethin’ that makes you use your noggin a bit, then give ‘em a try. You might just surprise yourself. And if you don’t like ’em, well, there’s plenty of other fish in the sea, as they say. Or games on the internet, in this case. And who knows, maybe even an old lady like me could get the hang of it, though I doubt it. It’s too much thinkin’ for these old bones.
