turn based strategy games for ps4

Alright, so you kids wanna know about them turn-based strategy games on that PS4 thingy, huh? Well, yer old granny gonna tell ya, but don’t expect no fancy words. I just call ‘em like I see ‘em.

First off, what the heck is a “turn-based strategy” game anyway? It’s simple, really. It’s like chess, see? You take your turn, then the other fella takes his turn. No rushin’ and clickin’ like a crazy chicken like them “real-time” games. You got time to think, plan yer moves, you know, like when I’m plannin’ my garden so them pesky rabbits don’t eat all my veggies.

Now, the PS4, that’s that black box thingy my grandson plays all day, right? Well, they don’t got a whole heap of these turn-based games like them computer fellas do, but there’s some good ones if you know where to look.

One game they talk about is Valkyria Chronicles Remastered. Sounds fancy, don’t it? It’s somethin’ about war and soldiers and takin’ turns movin’ ‘em around. My grandson says it’s like a cartoon, but with guns and tanks. I don’t know much about that, but he seems to like it, so it must be alright. They say it got good “gameplay,” which I guess means it’s fun to play. And you can make yer soldiers look how you want, so that’s somethin’.

Then there’s this other game, Grand Ages: Medieval. Now this one’s got them menus and numbers all over the place. Reminds me of when I gotta balance my checkbook, which ain’t no fun, let me tell ya. It’s about buildin’ stuff and managin’ yer town, like makin’ sure you got enough food and wood and such. Sounds kinda borin’ to me, but some folks like that kinda thing.

My grandson keeps yellin’ about “Civilization 6” too. He says it’s the best darn strategy game ever made. It’s another one of them buildin’ games, where you start with nothin’ and end up with a big ol’ empire, if you’re smart enough. I seen him playin’ it, looks complicated, with all them cities and soldiers and different things to research. He says there’s “expansions” now too, which I guess means they added more stuff to the game. Sounds like they’re always tryin’ to get more money outta ya, them game makers.

• So, to recap, you got yer war games like Valkyria, yer buildin’ games like Grand Ages and Civilization.
• And they all got one thing in common: you take turns. No rushin’, no fussin’. Just good ol’ fashioned thinkin’ and plannin’.

Now, someone told me somethin’ about an “Age of Empires” game, but I ain’t seen that on the PS4. My grandson says it’s on that Xbox thingy, which is a whole ‘nother story. Seems like these game companies like to keep things separate so you gotta buy all their different boxes. Sneaky, ain’t they?

Anyways, if you’re lookin’ for a good turn-based strategy game on yer PS4, them’s the ones folks talk about. I ain’t no expert, but I know what I like. And I like a game that lets me sit back, relax, and take my time. No need to hurry, life’s too short for that. Now, if you’ll excuse me, I gotta go chase them rabbits outta my garden.

Why are they so slow, these game thingys? Back in my day, we played outside, we had real fun, real adventure. Nowadays all you young fellas do is stare at screens, maybe now and then you yell at the TV, I just dont get it, but hey, if my grandson likes it so much it must be ok

So yeah, them games, they take time, but they make you think and sometimes that’s a good thing, better than shooting aliens all day. At least you’re building something or thinking about how to win a battle. You young fellas should try it sometime.

Now go on, get outta here and try them games yourself. And don’t forget to eat your vegetables. And mind your manners. And call your grandmother once in a while, ya hear?
