Gotta think about where to put your farms, where to put your mines, gotta keep your people happy. And then, you gotta fight off other folks tryin’ to take your stuff. It’s like real life, only you don’t gotta get your hands dirty.
Then there’s this other one, “XCOM 2.” This one’s about fightin’ aliens. Nasty lookin’ critters, they are. You got your squad of soldiers, and you gotta move ’em around, takin’ cover, shootin’ at the aliens. But you gotta be careful, ’cause if one of your soldiers dies, they’re gone for good. Makes you think twice ‘fore you send ’em runnin’ into danger, that’s for sure. It’s kinda like them old war movies, only you get to tell the soldiers what to do.

My grandkids, they also like this “Homeworld: Deserts of Kharak“. Big ol’ spaceships fightin’ in the desert. Now, I ain’t seen no deserts myself, but them spaceships sure are somethin’ else. You gotta be smart, gotta think ahead, gotta know what your enemy’s gonna do before they do it. It ain’t just about shootin’, it’s about outsmartin’ the other fella.
And there’s more, lots more. “Company of Heroes 2: Ardennes Assault” they said was good, some war thing again. My head starts spinnin’ tryin’ to keep track of ‘em all. “Command and Conquer: Red Alert 2“, that was another one, seemed like them Russians and Americans fightin’ again, always at each other’s throats them two.
Someone mentioned a game called “Into The Breach”, short and sweet they said. Robots fightin’ monsters, sounded like a good time to me.
And then there’s this “Sid Meier’s Alpha Centauri”, seems like this Sid fellow makes a lot of these games, must be a smart cookie. This one is in space, building up cities on another planet, kinda like that Civilization game but way out there.
Heck, they even said them sports games like “PES” and “FIFA” are strategy games too. I guess if you gotta think about who to pass the ball to, and where to kick it, then it’s kinda like a strategy game, ain’t it? But I still like the ones with the shootin’ and the explosions better. More bang for your buck, I always say.
