the hunger games the ballad of songbirds and snakes reviews
Well, I saw that new Hunger Games movie, the one about them songbirds and snakes. Guess it’s supposed to tell you how that bad guy President Snow got to be so mean.
Now, I ain’t one for fancy talk, but I’ll tell ya what I thought. Some parts was good, real good. Kept me watching, ya know? Like, seeing how them Hunger Games got started, that was somethin’. But then there was parts that dragged on and on, like a mule stuck in the mud.
This young fella, Snow, he’s supposed to be the main guy. He’s got this girl from District 12 he’s supposed to help in the Games. She’s a singer, they say. Now, I like singin’ alright, but this girl, she wasn’t all that special if you ask me. Seemed like they made a big fuss over nothin’.
- First off, the movie’s awful long. Felt like I was sittin’ there forever. My backside started to hurt!
- Then there’s the way they talked. This girl, she’s supposed to be from the same place as that Katniss girl from the other movies. But she talked all funny, like she was puttin’ on airs. Didn’t sound natural at all.
Some folks say this movie’s better than the others. Well, I don’t see it. The first ones, with Katniss, they was excitin’! You didn’t know what was gonna happen next. This one, it was just kinda… there. Like a pot of stew that’s been sittin’ on the stove too long.
They spent a lot of time on stuff that didn’t seem to matter much. Like, Snow and his friends at that fancy school. Who cares about them? I wanted to see more of the Games, more fightin’ and survival. That’s what made the other movies good.

Now, don’t get me wrong, the movie looked nice. The clothes and the places, they was fancy. But pretty pictures ain’t enough to make a good story. You need characters you care about, and a story that keeps you guessin’.
I heard some folks say this movie did good at the box office. Made lots of money. Well, I guess people will go see anything these days. Me, I’d rather watch the old ones again. They had heart.
This Snow fella, he’s supposed to be a bad guy, right? But in this movie, he’s just kinda… sad. Always worried about his family and his money. I guess they were tryin’ to make you feel sorry for him. But I didn’t. Bad is bad, no matter how you slice it.
The endin’, it was alright, I guess. Tied things up neat and tidy. But it didn’t leave me thinkin’ much about it afterwards. Just made me wanna go home and have a cup of tea.
So, if you’re askin’ me if you should go see this Hunger Games movie, I’d say, save your money. Go watch the old ones instead. They’re a whole lot better.
