strategy gba games
Well, let me tell ya, those little Game Boy Advance thingamajigs, they got some games that make you think, you know? Not like them fancy new PlayStations or whatever the kids are playin’ nowadays. These are games where you gotta use your brain, plan things out. Strategy games, they call ‘em.
I remember my grandson, little Timmy, he used to have this GBA. Always clackin’ away on them buttons. One time, he showed me this game, Advance Wars, I think it was called. Little soldiers and tanks, movin’ around on a map. You gotta figure out where to put your guys, who to attack, and all that. Reminded me of checkers, but way more complicated. I tell ya, I lost every time, but it was kinda fun watchin’ Timmy plan his moves, like he was some kinda general. He’d get all serious, pokin’ at the screen, mumblin’ to himself. Kids these days, they got brains for this stuff.
Then there was this other one, somethin’ with knights and magic. Tactics Ogre, maybe? Sounded fancy. Lots of talkin’ in that game, but the battles were somethin’ else. You had all these different characters, each with their own special abilities. Gotta position them just right, use their powers at the right time. Made my head spin, but Timmy, he loved it. Spent hours on that game, I tell ya. Said it was real deep, had a good story too. Me, I just liked lookin’ at the pretty colors. Those little sprites, they were kinda cute.

Oh, and can’t forget them Fire Emblem games. Timmy had a bunch of those. More knights and magic, but these ones had you recruitin’ characters, buildin’ up your army. And if one of your guys died, they were gone for good! No comin’ back. That made Timmy real careful, always thinkin’ two steps ahead. He’d get so upset if he lost a good character, like he lost a real friend. These games, they get you attached, you know? You start carin’ about these little pixel people. It’s kinda strange when you think about it.
There’s other games too, lot of ‘em. Some about robots, some about history, some… well, I don’t even know what some of ‘em were about. Too much for this old lady. But Timmy, he played ‘em all. Said they were the best strategy games on the GBA. And he’d know, he’s the expert, not me.

Now, I ain’t no gamer, not like Timmy. But I can see why folks like these games. They make you think, they challenge you. And they got stories, characters, worlds to explore, even if it’s just on a tiny screen. It ain’t just button mashin’, there’s somethin’ more to it. Like a puzzle, you gotta figure out the best way to solve it. And that, I guess, is what makes them so darn addictive.
Civilization, that’s another one Timmy talked about. Said it wasn’t on GBA but it was real good for strategizing. Building cities, managing resources, makin’ alliances, that kinda stuff. Sounded complicated, but he loved it. Said it was like playin’ God, controllin’ the whole world. Kids these days, with their imaginations.
Anyways, that’s my take on them GBA strategy games. They ain’t for everyone, but if you like usin’ your brain, plannin’ things out, they might just be your cup of tea. Just don’t ask me for tips, I’m still tryin’ to figure out how to use my cell phone.
And them games, they sure kept Timmy outta trouble, mostly. Better than him runnin’ around the streets, that’s for sure. So, I guess, these little GBA things, they ain’t all bad. They got some good in ‘em, even for an old lady like me, who just likes watchin’ her grandson have some fun, even if it’s just with tiny little soldiers on a screen. And who knows, maybe one day I’ll even figure out how to play one of them myself. But probably not. Too much thinkin’ for this old brain.
But, I tell you what, if you find one of those old GBAs, dust it off and give them strategy games a try. You might be surprised. Just don’t expect me to understand it all. I’ll stick to watchin’ from the sidelines, maybe offerin’ Timmy a cookie and a glass of milk while he conquers the world, one little pixel at a time.
