strategy games on switch

Oh, let me tell ya, if you got a Switch and you’re lookin’ for somethin’ to get them brain gears turnin’, them strategy games sure are the way to go. Now, I ain’t no expert, but I reckon there’s a few that’ll really make ya think while you sit there with that controller in your hand, like a big ol’ puzzle to solve. And they ain’t just games for the young folk, no sir! Even us older ones can get in on the fun. So, let me share a bit about some strategy games on the Switch that you might wanna give a try.

Fire Emblem: Three Houses—Now, this here’s a big one. I know it’s been around for a little while, but folks still talk about it like it’s fresh out the oven. Released back in July 2019, it’s a game where you get to be the boss of a bunch of young folks at a fancy school. You make decisions, build them up, and lead ‘em into battle. Ya gotta be careful though, every choice you make could change the whole dang story! Ain’t no turnin’ back once you mess somethin’ up. But that’s the fun of it, don’t ya think? It really makes ya think about what’s important, and how every little thing can have big consequences.

Then there’s another one, Advance Wars 1+2: Re-Boot Camp. This one’s for them that like a more old-fashioned type of strategy game. You get to move your little soldiers and tanks and all that across the battlefield, and it’s just like them games folks used to play on the ol’ Game Boy. You gotta think about what’s the best way to attack, and how to defend. I reckon it can get real tricky, especially when the enemy’s puttin’ up a good fight. But it’s the kind of game where you gotta sit there and plan everything out real careful-like.

Now, if you like your strategy games a little bit more on the cute side, Wargroove might be right up your alley. This one’s got a real simple look to it, but don’t let that fool ya, ’cause it’s got plenty of depth. You move your troops around, and it’s all about takin’ turns to outsmart the other side. There’s different commanders you can pick from, and each one has their own little special moves. And what’s nice is, it don’t take long to learn the ropes, but it’ll keep you busy for hours once you really start gettin’ into it.

If you’re lookin’ for somethin’ a bit different, there’s also Into the Breach. This one’s a bit of a brainteaser. You gotta save the world, but you do it in a real unusual way. You control a bunch of mechs, and you gotta move ‘em around the grid, trying to stop these big ol’ monsters from wreckin’ everything. It’s a real tactical game, and each move has to be thought out careful-like. It’s one of those games where you gotta plan ahead, and even then, sometimes things don’t go how you want ‘em to. But that’s the challenge, I suppose!

Lastly, I gotta mention XCOM 2 Collection. I know, I know, it sounds like a whole lotta sci-fi nonsense, but it’s a real good strategy game. You lead a group of soldiers in a fight against aliens, and each soldier has their own special abilities. You move ‘em around the map, and you gotta think about where to put ‘em, what weapons to use, and how to outsmart the enemy. It’s one of them games where you get attached to your team, and you hate to see ‘em go when they don’t make it. But, like I said before, that’s the fun of it!

So, there you have it. A good mix of strategy games for the Nintendo Switch that’ll make you use your noggin. I reckon any of these will keep you busy for hours, so if you got yourself a Switch, go ahead and give one—or all—of these a try. Don’t matter if you’re a young’un or one of us older folk, there’s something for everybody!
