strategy game cold war

Alright, let’s talk about them strategy game cold war, you know, the ones where you gotta think real hard, not like them shoot-em-up games my grandson plays.

So, I heard tell there ain’t many games about the Cold War, the real fightin’ kind, ‘cause lucky for us, it didn’t turn hot, you get me? No big boom-booms, just lots of… well, starin’ at each other, I guess. But some folks made games about it anyway, tryin’ to figure out what coulda happened.

One fella told me about this game, Armored Brigade. Made by them Matrix Games folks. Sounded like you’re movin’ tanks and soldiers around, real serious-like. Probably gotta plan things out good, or you’ll get your boys all messed up. Don’t want that now, do we?

Then there’s this other game, Oxygen Not Included. Now, this one ain’t exactly ’bout fightin’ the Russians, but it got that buildin’ stuff. You gotta make a place for your people to live, keep ‘em fed and happy, all that jazz. Reminds me of makin’ a good stew – gotta have all the right ingredients, or it’ll taste like dirt.

And get this, there’s this game where you go under the sea, the Sea of Barents they call it. You’re lookin’ for some nasty Russian submarine, gotta be careful though, it’s dangerous down there. Sounds spooky to me. All that water pressure… makes my ears pop just thinkin’ about it.

  • Now, some smarty-pants folks made a game way back when called Balance of Power. That was in 1985, a long time ago, when I was still young and spry. This game, it was all about the USA and the USSR, them big dogs, pushin’ each other around, playin’ games with other countries, like puppets on a string. Turn-based, they call it. You take your turn, then they take theirs. Like checkers, but with the whole world at stake!
  • Another thing they talked about was this Civilization 6 game. This one ain’t just about the Cold War, it’s about buildin’ a whole dang civilization from nothin’! Gotta make cities, grow food, fight wars… the whole shebang. They say it’s got this new “district system,” whatever that means. Sounds fancy.

Seems like them young folks, they don’t like these thinkin’ games so much anymore. They want somethin’ fast, somethin’ loud, where you just click-click-click and things go boom. These Cold War games, they make you use your brain, plan things out. You can’t just rush in like a bull in a china shop. And, well, them game makers, they gotta make money, so they give the kids what they want, I guess.

But me, I like a game that makes you think. Somethin’ where you gotta plan ahead, figure out your enemy, and outsmart ‘em. Like bakin’ a pie – gotta know how much flour, how much sugar, how long to leave it in the oven. You mess up one thing, the whole thing’s ruined. That’s what makes it interestin’, you know?

So, yeah, them strategy game cold war, they ain’t for everyone. But if you like a good challenge, if you like thinkin’ things through, then they might just be your cup of tea. Just don’t expect to be shootin’ everything in sight. It’s more about the chess match, the slow burn, the tension. And sometimes, that’s more excitin’ than anythin’.

And remember, whether it’s a game or real life, always think before you act. That’s what my pappy used to say. And he was a smart fella, even if he never played no fancy computer games.

Anyways, that’s all I got to say about them strategy game cold war. Hope it made some sense to ya. Now, if you’ll excuse me, I gotta go check on my chickens.
