Okay, so today I decided to dive into the world of flash strategy games. You know, those games that were super popular back in the day, but are kind of hard to find now? Yeah, those.

I started off by searching for places where I could actually play these games. I found a couple of sites, but nothing too great. And it was a bit of a maze trying to figure out which ones were still working and which ones were, well, dead.

Then I remembered about this thing called Ruffle. It’s like a tool that lets you play those old Flash games without needing the actual Flash plugin, which is pretty neat since Flash is no more. They have standalone program, a browser extension and a program powered by a line of HTML code. I downloaded it, and I tried their browser extension, too. It worked on some games, but not all of them. Still, it was cool to see some of those old games come back to life.

I spent a good chunk of the day playing a bunch of different strategy games. I stumbled upon “Bloons TD 5”, which I remember playing a lot back in high school. It was just as fun as I remembered! I also checked out “Epic Battle Fantasy 5” and “Kingdom Rush Frontiers”, which were new to me but pretty awesome.

  • Bloons TD 5 – Still a classic. Spent way too long popping those balloons.

  • Epic Battle Fantasy 5 – New to me, but a solid RPG with some fun strategy elements.

  • Kingdom Rush Frontiers – Another new one, and I was hooked! Building towers and defending my kingdom? Yes, please!

I also tried looking for games on. There were some interesting finds there, like “Polybia” and “Commission Impossible”. They weren’t exactly what I was expecting, but it was cool to see what indie developers were doing with the strategy genre.

Why are these games so hard to find now?

Honestly, it’s because times have changed. People are into faster games now, like those action-packed ones. RTS games take a lot of brainpower, you know? Planning, building, all that stuff. Plus, they’re not as easy to make money from, I guess.

I also read that some companies just use the internet as a part of their bigger business. Like, they benefit from it without taking all the risks of being a full-on internet company. Smart, huh?

After spending a whole day on this, I realized that these games, especially the Flash ones, are kind of like hidden gems. It takes some effort to find them and get them working, but when you do, it’s like stepping back in time. But I also get why they’re not as popular anymore. People’s tastes change, and that’s just how it goes.

I also found two great games are “Sid Meier’s Civilization VI” and “Humankind Game”, which were released in recent years. These two 4X strategy games are so cool, I spent all night playing them. It was so exciting!

Anyway, that was my adventure for today. Kind of a nostalgia trip, but also a reminder of how much things change in the gaming world. If you’ve got some time and patience, give these old strategy games a try. You might be surprised at how much fun you have!
