Okay, so today, I want to talk about my little adventure diving into the world of strategy AI games. It all started when I stumbled upon this cool list of influential AI games. You know, classics like Black & White, F.E.A.R., and The Sims. These games, even by today’s standards, have some pretty slick AI.

I got hooked. I mean, who wouldn’t be? The idea of creating a game where the computer can actually give you a run for your money? That’s the dream, right?

So, I started small. I played a bunch of strategy games, just to get a feel for what makes them tick. Most of them have these tutorials or single-player campaigns, which are basically like a playground for learning the ropes. I spent hours just messing around, figuring out the mechanics and trying to understand what makes a good strategy game.

Digging Deeper into AI

Then came the AI part. I learned that there are basically two ways to make a smart AI: rule-based systems and machine learning. The rule-based ones are like giving the AI a strict rulebook to follow. “If the player does this, then do that” kind of thing.

But I was more interested in the machine learning side. It’s like teaching the AI to learn from its mistakes and get better over time. That sounded way cooler, and a lot more challenging!

I started poking around online, looking for games that let you mess with the AI. I found this game called Gladiabots and another one, Wizards of Lezama. These are basically sandboxes where you can create your own AI and see how it stacks up. This was exactly what I was looking for!

Experimenting and Learning

I jumped right in, trying to build an AI that could play a simple strategy game. It was tough. I mean, really tough. There were times when I felt like I was banging my head against a wall. But, you know what? Slowly but surely, I started to see progress.

So, yeah, that’s my journey into the world of strategy AI games so far. It’s been a wild ride, full of ups and downs, but I’ve learned a ton. And honestly, I’m just getting started. There’s so much more to explore, so many more games to play, and so many more AI to build. Who knows where this will take me? But one thing’s for sure: it’s going to be fun.
