ransom notes game reviews

Alright, so let’s talk about this Ransom Notes game. I ain’t no fancy reviewer or nothin’, just a regular person who likes a good time. And let me tell ya, this game, it’s somethin’ else.

First off, they say it’s for 17 and up, on account of some of them cards bein’ a bit saucy, you know? But if you got young’uns around, just yank them spicy cards out, easy peasy. No need for the little ones to be hearin’ things they ain’t ready for.

Now, the way you play, it’s like this. You get a bunch of little word magnets and these cards with stuff on ’em, like, “Tell someone you clogged their toilet at a party.” Yeah, real highbrow stuff. But that’s the fun of it, see? You gotta use them magnets to make up an answer. And lemme tell ya, sometimes them words just don’t wanna cooperate. You’re sittin’ there, starin’ at them magnets, and your brain’s just like a scrambled egg.

It ain’t as easy as it sounds, y’know. You think you got all the words you need, but then you’re missin’ a “the” or an “a” and the whole thing just falls apart. It gets your brain workin’, that’s for sure. They say it’s for 3 to 6 players, but I played it with just my husband and we still had a hoot. More the merrier, I guess, but two can have a good time too. They give you these little trays to hold your words, which is nice, keeps things from gettin’ all jumbled up.

I tried playin’ it with my grandkids once. Figured it’d be a good way to keep ’em busy. But them young’uns, they didn’t quite get it. Too busy runnin’ around and whatnot. This game, it’s for folks who can sit still for a minute and think, you know? And maybe have a sense of humor. Cause some of the stuff you come up with, it’s just plain silly.

  • What I liked:
    • The cards are funny, real knee-slappers some of ’em.
    • It gets you thinkin’, which is good for the brain, I reckon.
    • You can play it with just two people, which is nice when it’s just you and the mister.
  • What I didn’t like so much:
    • Them little magnets, they can be a pain to keep track of. Always losin’ one or two.
    • Young’uns might not get it, so it ain’t really a family game unless your kids are older.
    • Sometimes you just get stuck and can’t make no sense outta the words, which can be a bit frustratin’.

So, all in all, I’d say Ransom Notes is a good game. It ain’t perfect, but it’s fun. It’s somethin’ different, you know? Not your same old board game or card game. If you’re lookin’ for a laugh and a bit of a brain teaser, give it a try. Just don’t blame me if you lose all your magnets under the couch.

And yeah, about winnin’, they say play till someone wins five rounds. But honestly, we just played till we got tired or the magnets started disappearin’ into thin air. It’s more about havin’ fun than keepin’ score, if you ask me. And that’s what matters, right? Gettin’ a good laugh, spendin’ some time with folks you like. That’s what life’s all about, not frettin’ over who won what.

So there you have it, my two cents on this here Ransom Notes game. Go get it, don’t get it, I ain’t your mama. But if you do end up playin’ it, I hope you have as much fun as I did. Or at least, almost as much fun. Cause I had a real good time, even if I did lose half my magnets.
