planet coaster game review

Well, let me tell ya ’bout this here game, Planet Coaster. I ain’t no fancy gamer or nothin’, but even this old lady can figure out it’s somethin’ special.

First off, folks are callin’ it mighty, ya know? Like, really good. Said some 58 fellas who know about these things looked at it and gave it the thumbs up. So, that’s gotta mean somethin’, right? They say it’s ’cause you can build all sorts of crazy roller coasters and theme parks. And it ain’t just buildin’ neither, you gotta think about the money too, like how much them rides gonna cost ya, and how much you can charge folks to ride ’em. Light economics they called it, but it felt kinda heavy to me sometimes, tryin’ to make sure I wasn’t going broke!

Now, I heard these fellas who made this game, they used to make somethin’ called Rollercoaster Tycoon. Sounds fancy, don’t it? But this here Planet Coaster, they say it’s even better. Like, way better. They got all sorts of rides, ya know? Big ones, small ones, fast ones, slow ones. And you can make ’em look like anythin’ you want. They call it customization. I just call it makin’ it pretty.

And let me tell ya, the buildin’ part? It’s somethin’ else. You can change the ground, put up trees, build little shops… it’s like playin’ with them fancy LEGOs my grandson has, but on the computer. And there’s so much stuff you can use to decorate, It’s a detailer’s dream, they said. I guess that means you can make it look real nice if you spend the time, they got tools to make the land all bumpy and stuff and you can put mountains in and everything. It’s a whole heap of things to fiddle with if you like that sort of thing, and lord knows I do.

• You got your roller coasters, of course.
• You got your little kiddie rides.
• You got your shops sellin’ snacks and souvenirs.

And the best part? You get to watch all them little people ridin’ your rides and havin’ a good time. It’s kinda like watchin’ a real theme park, but you made it all yourself. They cheer and clap and sometimes I even seen some of them little fellas throwin’ up after a big ride! Reminds me of your ol’ Uncle Jed after a plate of my cookin’!

Now, I ain’t gonna lie, this game ain’t always easy. Sometimes them rides break down, and sometimes them little people get upset if they gotta wait too long in line. And then you gotta figure out how to fix it all, or else they ain’t gonna come to your park no more. And there was times I wanted to pull my hair out tryin’ to make a coaster that didn’t go flying off the tracks the first time I ran it. More than a couple of times there were folks got launched right out of their cars and I had to fish them out the lake.

But that’s part of the fun, I guess. It’s like life, you know? You gotta work hard to make somethin’ good, and even then, things don’t always go the way you planned. But when you see them little people smilin’ and laughin’, it makes it all worth it.

They also said somethin’ about the game bein’ in somethin’ called “Early Access” before. Sounds like they let folks try it out early, and then they listened to what them folks said and made the game better. That’s good, right? Means they care about what folks think. And there’s a whole community of folks who play this game, sharin’ their ideas and showin’ off what they built. It’s like a big ol’ town fair, but on the computer. Seems like they’re always addin’ new stuff to the game too, so it don’t get old too fast, I ain’t had the time to try all the things you can do in this game yet, I been playing it steady for a week and I’m sure there are things I haven’t seen yet.

So, if you’re lookin’ for a game that’s fun and challengin’, and lets you build whatever you can dream up, then you might wanna give this here Planet Coaster a try. Just don’t blame me if you get hooked. Cause let me tell ya, it’s mighty addictive. Oh, and somebody said it takes about 27 hours to finish if you just do the main stuff. But honestly, I don’t see how anyone could just stick to the main stuff. There’s too much fun to be had fiddlin’ around with all them rides and decorations.

In short, Planet Coaster is a real good game for folks who like to build stuff and watch little people have fun. It ain’t perfect, but it’s darn close. And that’s all there is to it, really.
