make your own genshin impact character
Alright, folks, let’s dive into something I’ve been tinkering with – making my very own Genshin Impact character! I’ve always loved the character designs in that game, so I thought, why not try to create one myself? It’s been a fun little project, so I figured I’d share the whole messy process with you all.
Getting Started: The Idea
First things first, I needed an idea. I spent a good chunk of time just scrolling through existing Genshin characters, looking at their outfits, their weapons, their overall vibe. I wasn’t trying to copy anything directly, just kinda soaking it all in. I knew I wanted something unique, but still fitting within the Genshin world.
I brainstormed a bunch of random concepts. Did I want a sword user? A catalyst wielder? Someone who throws rocks? (Okay, maybe not rocks…). After a lot of back and forth, I finally landed on the idea of a character who uses a polearm, with a sort of elegant, dancer-like fighting style.
The Design Process: Lots of Scribbles
Next up: actually designing the character. This is where things got… interesting. My artistic skills are, shall we say, “enthusiastically amateur.” I started with a super basic stick figure, just to get the general pose down. Then I started sketching out clothes. I wanted something that looked flowy and graceful, like something a dancer would wear, but also practical for fighting. Think lots of layers, maybe some ribbons or something.
I went through a TON of iterations. Seriously, my sketchbook is now filled with pages of half-finished drawings and scribbled-out ideas. I kept changing the hairstyle, the details on the outfit, the shape of the polearm… it was a mess, but a fun mess!

- First attempts: Totally ridiculous. Looked like a stick figure wearing a potato sack.
- Middle attempts: Starting to get somewhere… maybe? Still pretty rough.
- Getting closer: Okay, this is starting to resemble something that might actually look decent!
I also started thinking about the color scheme. I wanted something that felt vibrant and eye-catching, but not overly garish. I played around with different combinations, finally settling on a palette of blues, purples, and golds. It felt regal and a little mysterious, which I liked.
The (Almost) Final Result
After many, many hours of drawing, erasing, and redrawing, I finally had something I was (mostly) happy with. It’s definitely not perfect, and I’m sure a professional artist could do a much better job, but hey, I made it! It’s my Genshin character.
Is it ready to be put straight into the game? Haha, absolutely not. But it was a blast to create, and it definitely scratched that creative itch. If you have the time, I really recomend you to give it a try. Maybe it won’t end up being perfect, but it will definetly be unique, because it is yours!
