lego avengers video game review

Okay, so I finally got around to playing the Lego Avengers video game. I’d heard good things, and being a huge Marvel and Lego fan, I figured it was a no-brainer. Here’s how it all went down.

Getting Started

First, I grabbed the game. I opted for the digital version because, well, it’s just easier these days. No discs to mess with. Once it was downloaded and installed, I fired it up.

Diving into the Gameplay

The game throws you right into the action, starting with the opening scene from Avengers: Age of Ultron. I immediately started smashing things, because, you know, it’s a Lego game! That’s half the fun. I was controlling Iron Man, flying around and blasting those Hydra goons.

The controls felt pretty intuitive. It’s your basic button-mashing, with some special moves thrown in. I quickly figured out how to switch between characters, which is key to solving puzzles. You need to use different characters’ abilities to progress.

  • Flying: Some characters, like Iron Man, can fly.
  • Super Strength: Hulk, obviously, can smash big objects.
  • Tech: Characters like Black Widow can hack computers.

Exploring the Levels

I spent a good chunk of time just running around, exploring every nook and cranny of the levels. There are tons of hidden collectibles, like minikits and gold bricks. Finding all this stuff is a real challenge, but also super satisfying. It’s a great way to extend the playtime.

One thing I really appreciated was the variety in the levels. You’re not just running through the same environments over and over. I was battling in Sokovia one minute, then exploring Stark Tower the next. The game does a good job of capturing the feel of the movies.

Co-op Fun

Then, my buddy came over, and we jumped into some co-op. This is where the game really shines. It’s so much fun to team up and smash things together. We were laughing our heads off as we figured out the puzzles and took down the bosses. We had to coordinate, like, “Okay, you go over there and use your powers, and I’ll do this.”

Final Thoughts

After playing for several hours, I can definitely say I’m enjoying Lego Avengers. It’s not a super challenging game, but it’s just pure, simple fun. Perfect for relaxing and unwinding. And for any Lego and Marvel fans, I really recommend checking the game out. Especially if you have a friend to play with, the co-op adds a whole extra layer of enjoyment. Now, if you’ll excuse me, I’ve got more gold bricks to find!
