kona game review

Alright, let me tell you about my time with this game called “Kona.” I’d heard some good things about it and was keen to dive in. So, I grabbed a copy and got started. The game puts you in the shoes of this private eye, Carl Faubert, and it’s set way back in October 1970. You roll up to this snowy town in Quebec, and get this, the place is like a ghost town. It’s seriously deserted, but there’s also this creepy feeling that something’s not quite right, like something’s watching you.

I started poking around, trying to figure out what happened to everyone. The story really pulls you in. There was nobody to tell you what to do. I just explored, found clues, and gradually pieced things together. The game has this cool thing where you get flashbacks, kind of like I’ve heard “Return of the Obra Dinn” does, which help you understand the story better. I thought that was pretty neat.

And let me tell you, the atmosphere in this game is top-notch. The music and sounds are just amazing, like a solid 10 out of 10. They really make you feel like you’re there, alone in this freezing, deserted town. It’s kind of spooky, but in a good way. But it’s a pretty game, especially for one that came out a while back. The snow and the old buildings, they all looked really good.

  • Exploration: I spent a good chunk of time just wandering around, checking out every nook and cranny.
  • Puzzle Solving: There were some puzzles to solve, which I enjoyed. They weren’t too tough, but they made you think a bit.
  • Story Progression: As I found more clues and solved puzzles, the story started to unfold. I got really invested in finding out what happened.

I played through the main story, and it took me about 5 or 6 hours. But there’s a lot more to see if you’re the type who likes to find everything. I’ve heard some folks spend around 10 hours to get everything done. Honestly, I was so into the story that I just wanted to see how it ended.

Now, it’s not a perfect game. I mean, it’s not super pretty, and it’s kind of short. But even with those things, I’d still say “Kona” is worth playing. It’s more about the experience and the story than anything else. If you’re into games that tell a good story and have a cool atmosphere, you’ll probably like this one. I definitely enjoyed my time with it and would recommend giving it a shot.
