know board game review
Okay, so I finally got around to trying out that “Know” board game everyone’s been talking about. I’d seen it pop up in a few groups, and the idea—a trivia game that somehow uses real-time, online searches—sounded pretty wild. So, I grabbed a copy and roped my usual game night crew into giving it a spin.
Getting Started
First off, unboxing. The game comes with a bunch of question cards, some player tokens, and these little answer boards. The instructions were, thankfully, pretty straightforward. It’s for 2-6 players, and you basically take turns being the “Host” and reading out questions.
Playing the Game
We started with a round, and I was the first Host. I picked a card, and wow, the questions are current. I mean, stuff that happened recently current. That’s where the whole online search thing comes in.
Now, the cool (and kinda tricky) part is guessing how people will actually search for the answer. You’re not trying to get the “right” answer, you’re trying to guess the most popular search result. It’s all about predicting what the masses will type into their search bars.
We spent a good few minutes on each question, debating what the most common search terms would be. My friend, Sarah, is a total news junkie, so she kept going for the super-specific, “correct” answers. My buddy, Mark, on the other hand, kept it simple, which, surprisingly, worked out for him more often than not.

- Example 1: One question was about a recent celebrity scandal (I won’t name names!). Sarah went for the full names and the specific event. Mark just typed in “[Celebrity’s Name] news.” Mark won that round.
- Example 2: I had a question about the capital of some obscure country. I thought, that is my winning card, but NO, I was wrong!
My Overall Thoughts
After a couple of hours, we called it a night. Honestly, “Know” was a lot more fun than I expected.
It’s not just about knowing stuff; it’s about knowing how other people think. The real-time search aspect added a whole new layer of strategy and, let’s be real, a lot of laughs. It also sparked some pretty hilarious side discussions.
If you’re looking for a party game that’s a bit different, and you’re okay with things getting a little unpredictable (and maybe a little heated, in a good way!), I’d definitely recommend giving “Know” a try. Just be prepared to be surprised by how people really search for things online!
