klee genshin impact costume

Okay, so I decided to make a Klee costume from Genshin Impact, because, well, she’s adorable! I started by gathering a ton of reference pictures. Seriously, like, so many pictures from every possible angle. I needed to get all the little details right, you know?

Breaking Down the Costume

I broke down the costume into smaller, manageable parts:

  • The red coat
  • The white dress/shorts thingy
  • The scarf
  • The hat
  • The boots
  • The gloves
  • The backpack
  • All those little clover details!

The Sewing Begins!

First, I tackled the coat. I found some nice, thick red fabric – it felt kinda like felt, but a bit sturdier. I used a basic coat pattern I had lying around and modified it to match Klee’s design. This involved making it shorter, adding those big puffy sleeves, and making the weird flared bottom part. That was a bit tricky, I had to do some experimenting with how to cut the fabric to make it flare out like that.

Next up was the white under-dress/shorts. I opted for a simple white cotton fabric. I’m pretty sure it’s supposed to be shorts, but I ended up making it more like a really short dress, just because it was easier. I added some lace trim to the bottom to make it look a little fancier.

The scarf was super easy, just a long rectangle of cream-colored fabric that I fringed at the ends.

The Hat and Accessories

The hat! This was probably the most challenging part. I ended up using craft foam as a base and covering it with the same red fabric as the coat. I shaped the foam into that pointy shape, which took a few tries to get right. Then I hand-stitched the fabric over it. The little gold details were made from more craft foam that I painted gold. And, of course, I added the big fluffy feather!

The boots and gloves were pretty straightforward. I bought some plain brown boots and gloves and added the gold details with fabric paint.

For the backpack, I used a small brown backpack I already had and modified it. I added some extra pockets and those little clover-shaped decorations. For the clovers, I cut them out of felt and glued them on.

The Final Touches

Finally, I added all the little details, like the gold trim on the coat and the clover-shaped buttons. This took a lot of time, but it really made the costume look complete.

It was a lot of work, but I’m really happy with how it turned out! Seeing it all come together was so satisfying. My Klee cosplay, boom!
