indie game reviews
Okay, so today I decided to dive into the world of indie game reviews. I’ve always been a fan of indie games, their creativity, and how they push boundaries, so I thought, “Why not share my thoughts on some of the gems I’ve found?”
First, I brainstormed a list of games. I wanted a mix of genres and styles, some I’d played recently, others that were sitting in my backlog, begging for attention. I ended up with a good variety – a pixel-art platformer, a narrative-driven adventure, a quirky puzzle game, and a roguelike dungeon crawler.
Next, I fired up my trusty gaming rig and started playing. Or rather, re-playing some of them. I wanted to have fresh impressions, not just rely on hazy memories. I jotted down notes as I played, things that stood out, good and bad. Stuff like:
- “Graphics are charming, but the controls feel a bit clunky.”
- “Wow, this story is really gripping! I’m hooked.”
- “The music is perfect, sets the mood just right.”
- “This difficulty spike is brutal! Almost rage-quit.”
After getting a good feel for each game again, I started organizing my thoughts. I didn’t want to just ramble, I wanted each review to have some structure. So I decided on a simple format:
- A brief intro, setting the scene.
- What I liked about the game.
- What I thought could be better.
- A quick summary and a score, like out of 5 stars.
Then, I started writing. Honestly, the words just flowed. When you’re passionate about something, it’s easy to talk about it, right? I tried to be honest and fair, highlighting both the strengths and weaknesses of each game. I also tried to convey the feeling of playing the game, not just list features.

After I finished writing the reviews, I gave them a once-over. I fixed some typos, reworded a few clunky sentences, and made sure everything made sense. I wanted them to be easy to read and understand.
The Final Touches
Finally, I decided on which game I enjoyed playing the most, it was difinitely the roguelike dungeon crawler! I don’t know what it is about those types of games but they really get my blood pumping!
