hunger games songbirds and snakes review
Well, let me tell ya, I went to see this movie, “Hunger Games: Songbirds and Snakes,” and it was somethin’ else, let me tell ya. Folks was callin’ it a “prequel,” whatever that means. Sounded fancy, but the story was easy enough for an old woman like me to follow.
This movie, it ain’t like them superhero things my grandkids watch. No flyin’ around or shootin’ lasers. It’s about a young fella, Coriolanus Snow, and a girl named Lucy Gray Baird. He’s supposed to be some kinda smarty-pants, a mentor for this Hunger Games thing. And she’s the tribute, the one fightin’ for her life.
The Hunger Games, they’re somethin’ awful. Kids killin’ kids, that’s what it is. Makes ya think ’bout how precious life is, ya know? This movie, it shows you how these city folks got used to it, how they don’t even blink at the violence. It’s just a show to them, plain as day.
- This Coriolanus fella, he’s got choices to make. Good and bad, just like all of us. But his choices, they got bigger consequences, seein’ as he’s involved in this whole Hunger Games mess.
- And Lucy Gray, she’s tough as nails. A real survivor. She sings pretty, too, like a songbird, I guess that’s where the movie gets its name. But don’t let that fool you, she’s got a fire in her belly.
The movie, it made me think about how easy it is to get caught up in bad things. How one little decision can lead to another, and before you know it, you’re doin’ stuff you never thought you’d do. It’s like that plant they kept talkin’ about, katniss, it feeds ya but it can also be a reminder of things left behind, lost.
I heard some folks sayin’ this movie made a lot of money, like, 300 million dollars or somethin’. That’s a whole lotta money! Guess people like watchin’ this kind of stuff, even if it’s sad and scary. Makes ya wonder about folks sometimes, don’t it?

This Coriolanus, he’s got a mean streak, ya can see it. He’s all about gettin’ ahead, no matter the cost. And that Lucy Gray, she’s a victim, but she ain’t weak. She fights back, she uses her wits, she uses her voice. But it makes you wonder what happened to her at the end, lost just like that without a trace.
The movie, it ain’t just about the fightin’ and killin’. It’s about how people can be cruel to each other. How they can lose their way. And it’s about how even in the darkest of times, there’s still a little bit of hope, a little bit of kindness, even if it’s hard to find.
They talked a lot about philosophy, whatever that is. Big words, fancy ideas. But what I got from it is that we all gotta choose what kinda person we wanna be. Do we choose the easy way, the selfish way? Or do we try to do what’s right, even when it’s hard?
Now, I ain’t no movie critic. I’m just a plain old woman. But I thought this movie was powerful. It made me think, it made me feel. And it reminded me that even though the world can be a cruel place, there’s always a reason to keep fightin’, to keep hopin’.
And let me tell ya, the actors, they did a good job. Made me believe they was really these characters, livin’ through this awful stuff. They made me care about what happened to them, even though it was just a story.
So, if you’re lookin’ for a movie that’ll make ya think, a movie that’ll stir up your emotions, then go see this “Hunger Games: Songbirds and Snakes.” Just be warned, it ain’t all sunshine and roses. It’s a tough story, but it’s a story worth tellin’. And that’s the honest truth, as sure as I’m sittin’ here.
It shows you what people are capable of, both good and bad. And it makes you wonder what you would do in the same situation. Would you be a Coriolanus, or would you be a Lucy Gray? It’s somethin’ to ponder, ain’t it?
