hunger games prequel reviews

Alright, let’s talk about this new Hunger Games movie, the one they’re callin’ “The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes”. Folks are makin’ a big fuss about it, so I figured I’d give ya my two cents, even though I ain’t no fancy movie critic or nothin’.

Now, this movie, it’s supposed to tell ya the story of that mean old President Snow when he was just a young fella. They got this actor, Tom Blyth, playin’ him. He’s alright, I guess, but nothin’ to write home about. The movie itself, well, it’s a whole lotta things all mixed up, kinda like a stew that’s got too many ingredients.

The Hunger Games Part

They do have the Hunger Games in it, ya know, the killin’ each other part. But honestly, that ain’t even the most interestin’ bit. It’s all the stuff that happens after, in the third part, that kinda got me thinkin’. I ain’t gonna spoil it for ya, but it’s got a lot to do with how this young Snow fella turns into the bad guy we all know.

Some folks are sayin’ this movie is too long. And ya know what? They might be right. It does drag on a bit in places. Like, I was sittin’ there thinkin’, “Get on with it already!” But then again, there’s parts that are pretty good, so it’s hard to say.

  • Tom Blyth is Coriolanus Snow: Plays the young version, not too bad.
  • Long Movie: Yep, it’s a long one, be prepared.
  • Best Parts are Later: The real juicy stuff happens after the games.

This fella, Francis Lawrence, he directed this one, just like some of the other Hunger Games movies. He knows what he’s doin’, I guess. The movie looks real nice, all fancy and stuff. But pretty pictures ain’t everything, ya know? You gotta have a good story too.

Now, I heard some folks sayin’ this is the worst Hunger Games movie yet. Ouch! That’s a harsh thing to say. I don’t know if I’d go that far. It ain’t great, that’s for sure. But it ain’t terrible neither. It’s just… kinda… there. Like a lump of mashed potatoes on your plate, it fills ya up, but it ain’t excitin’.

They say this movie is based on a book that came out a few years back, in 2020. I ain’t read it, so I can’t tell ya if the movie is better or worse. But from what I hear, they changed some things around. That’s Hollywood for ya, always tinkerin’ with stuff.

My Honest Opinion

So, would I recommend this movie? Well, that depends. If you’re a big Hunger Games fan, then yeah, you probably gotta see it. Just don’t expect it to be as good as the first ones. If you ain’t never seen a Hunger Games movie before, then I wouldn’t start with this one. Go watch the ones with Jennifer Lawrence, she’s a firecracker, that girl. This new one, it’s kinda like watchin’ paint dry in some parts.

But hey, don’t just take my word for it. Go see it for yourself and make up your own mind. Maybe you’ll love it, maybe you’ll hate it. That’s the way things go, right? And like that one review said, this movie has contrasts. Some parts are just stunning to look at, but the story gets lost sometimes. It’s supposed to tell you how Snow turned bad, but it doesn’t do a very good job in some places.

It’s supposed to be a big, important movie, this “Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes”. But to me, it just felt like a whole lot of nothin’ much. They tried to make it deep and meaningful, but it just ended up bein’ kinda messy. Like a chicken coop after a fox got in. Feathers everywhere, and nothin’ makin’ much sense. But hey, some folks like that kind of thing, I guess. I was surprised that I even liked it a little bit because I wasn’t even planning on watching it, to be honest with ya. It ended up being way better than I thought it would be, even though it has its problems.

One thing I will say, this movie definitely tries to make you think about things. Like, is it good? Is it bad? Is Snow really evil or just a product of his circumstances? They try to get all fancy, but I’m not sure they pull it off. They could’ve done a better job, if you ask me.

Anyway, that’s all I gotta say about it. Go see it if you want, don’t see it if you don’t. It ain’t gonna change my life none either way.
