head trip game review

Today I tried out that new party game, Head Trip. You know, the one from the folks who made Cards Against Humanity? Yeah, that’s the one. It’s supposed to be all about answering crazy questions from the perspective of equally crazy characters. Sounded like a blast, so I grabbed it and got some friends together to give it a go.

First thing we did was crack open the box. Inside, there are a bunch of cards, split into two decks: question cards and “head” cards. The idea is pretty simple. You draw one of each, and someone has to answer the question as if they were the person on the “head” card.

So, we started playing. I drew the first set of cards. The question was something like, “What’s the worst thing to find in your bed?” and the “head” card was “a clown who’s afraid of children.” I had to answer the question from that clown’s point of view. It took a few seconds to get my brain wrapped around that. I mean, what would a children-fearing clown find terrible in their bed? After a bit of thinking, I blurted out, “A room full of happy, giggling kids, ready for a birthday party!” My friends cracked up, and we were off to a good start.

We went around the circle, everyone taking turns drawing cards and answering. The combinations got wilder and wilder. We had “an alien trying to pass as a human” explaining why they were late to work. I got “a superhero with a fear of heights” describing their worst nightmare. Man, it was tough to think like some of these characters! But that’s what made it fun, trying to come up with the most ridiculous, yet fitting, answers.

  • Drew cards: We pulled question and head cards each round.
  • Answered questions: One person answered from the head’s perspective.
  • Laughed a lot: The answers were hilarious and unexpected.
  • Kept playing: We went through a bunch of rounds.

The Verdict

We played for a good hour or so, and honestly, we were all laughing pretty hard the whole time. Head Trip is definitely a fun party game. It’s easy to learn, and the crazy card combinations lead to some truly hilarious moments. It’s the kind of game that gets your brain working in weird and wonderful ways. If you’re looking for something to liven up your next game night, I’d say give Head Trip a shot. It’s a good time, especially if you’re into silly, creative games.
