Okay, so, let me tell you about this wild ride I went on trying to write a “Genshin Impact x Reader Angst” story. I’ve been playing Genshin Impact for a while now, and I just love getting lost in that world, you know? The characters, the lore, it’s all so captivating. And like any fan, I’ve got my favorite characters that I’ve grown attached to. So, I thought, “Why not try my hand at writing a fanfic about them?” But I wanted to do something a little…different. Something with a bit of an edge.

I decided to go with an “angst” theme. If you don’t know, angst basically means a story with a lot of emotional turmoil, sadness, and maybe even a bit of darkness. Not exactly a walk in the park, but I was feeling adventurous. I wanted to explore what would happen if the reader, you know, the person reading the story, got thrown into the world of Genshin Impact and things went, well, a little sideways.

First, I had to pick a character. I went through all of them, reading their backstories, thinking about their personalities. This took forever! It’s like choosing a favorite child, you know? You love them all, but some just resonate with you more. I finally settled on one from Inazuma – a region with such a rich and sad history, the perfect backdrop for some good old-fashioned angst. It is really fit for this theme.

Then came the plot. Oh boy, the plot. I spent days, I kid you not, just brainstorming ideas. I watched some animes, read some similar fanfics on Wattpad to get some ideas, and jotted down notes. I wanted something that would really tug at the heartstrings. Something like the reader getting into an accident, or maybe they had a Vision – you know, those things that give people elemental powers – but it’s not all sunshine and rainbows. Maybe it comes with a price, or maybe the reader’s new life in Teyvat isn’t as amazing as they thought it would be. Lots of “what ifs” and “how abouts.” I even toyed with the idea of the reader dying and getting reborn as an Abyss Mage. It was a mess, but a fun mess.

I started writing, and let me tell you, it was HARD. Like, really hard. Putting all those emotions into words, creating a believable scenario, making sure the characters stayed true to themselves. There were moments when I wanted to throw my laptop out the window. But I kept at it, rewriting, editing, and getting feedback from some friends who also play Genshin. They helped a lot by suggesting some tweaks to the storyline and pointing out a few inconsistencies. I am really apprieciate to them.

After countless hours and way too much coffee, I finally had something I was kinda proud of. I shared it online, on some fanfiction platforms, and waited. It was nerve-wracking, to be honest. Putting your work out there, not knowing how people will react. But the response was…well, it was something. Some people loved it, some people hated it, and some people just didn’t get it. But that’s okay. I learned a lot from the whole experience. About writing, about the world of Genshin, and about myself.

So, yeah, that’s my story of writing a “Genshin Impact x Reader Angst” fanfic. It was a wild ride, full of ups and downs, but I wouldn’t trade it for anything. Would I do it again? Maybe. Probably.
