genshin impact sfm compile
Okay, so I was messing around with Source Filmmaker, right? I’m trying to get some Genshin Impact models in there because, you know, why not? It’s a cool game, and I wanted to make some animations.
First off, I had to get those models. I found a bunch of them, all ripped from the game. They were in some weird format, not the usual stuff you’d use in Source. It took me a minute to figure out how to convert them. I did find some tools online to convert them to a Source-friendly format, but it was kind of a pain. You had to convert them to PMX first, then MMD, and finally get them ready for Source. Each step had its own little quirks and took a lot of time.
Then came the compiling part. Let me tell you, Source is picky about how you set things up. I had to put all the model files in the right folders, make sure the textures were where they were supposed to be, and write these QC files. Man, those QC files are a headache. One wrong line, and the whole thing breaks. I spent hours tweaking them, trying to get it just right. I followed some online guides, but they were all over the place. Some said to do this, others said to do that. It was a mess.
- Find and download Genshin Impact models.
- Convert the models to a Source-compatible format (this is where most of the trouble was).
- Set up the models and materials in the correct Source Filmmaker directories.
- Create QC files to define the models for Source.
- Compile the models using the Source SDK.
I hit compile, and boom, errors everywhere. It felt like the compiler was just messing with me. I had to go back, check every single file, and make sure everything was named correctly. Turns out, I had a few textures in the wrong place. Fixed that, and tried again. More errors! This time, it was the QC file. I had a typo in one of the bone names. Seriously, one little typo and the whole thing fails. The error messages didn’t really help much, either. It’s like they were speaking a different language.
Finally, Success
After a lot of trial and error, I finally got it to work. I saw that little “model compiled successfully” message, and I almost jumped out of my chair. I loaded it up in Source Filmmaker, and there it was, a Genshin character, in all its glory. It was a lot of work, but seeing it in the editor made it all worth it.
So yeah, that’s my story about compiling Genshin Impact models for Source Filmmaker. It was a wild ride, but I learned a lot. If you’re thinking about doing this, be prepared for a challenge. But hey, if I can do it, so can you. Just be patient, and don’t give up! If you have a basic idea about Genshin, you will know that it is a VERY resource-intensive game, so be prepared for a slow process.
