genshin impact raiden shogun cosplay

Alright, so a while back, I decided to dive into the world of cosplay, and not just any character – I went for Raiden Shogun from Genshin Impact. Yeah, the Electro Archon herself. First off, let me tell you, getting into Genshin was a whole thing. I mean, I downloaded it ’cause everyone was talking about it, and boom, next thing I know, I’m hooked. Then comes Raiden, and I’m like, “That’s it, I gotta do this.”

So, I started gathering stuff. I didn’t even know where to begin, honestly. I looked up “Raiden Shogun cosplay patterns,” and thankfully, there’s a bunch of stuff online. Found this one pack that seemed to have everything – downloaded it, and that was my starting point. Printing those patterns was a trip, had to clear out half my desk just to lay them all out.

Next up was the fabric. Oh boy, the fabric. I went to like, three different stores before I found something that looked right. And let me tell you, explaining to the store clerk what I was trying to do? That was an experience. But hey, I got my purple fabric, and a bunch of other colors for the details. Also had to get some of that foam stuff for the armor pieces. I was basically living in craft stores for a week.

  • Cutting and Sewing: This was the real deal. I’ve never used a sewing machine so much in my life. Cutting out the patterns from the fabric was nerve-wracking, ’cause one wrong snip and you’re screwed. But I managed, somehow. Sewing it all together was a whole other challenge. Let’s just say I had to redo a few seams. A lot of seams, actually.
  • The Armor: Okay, working with foam is weird. You gotta cut it, then shape it with heat, and then paint it. I watched a ton of videos to figure this out. My first attempt at the shoulder armor looked like a sad pancake, but I got better. Eventually. By the time I was done, I felt like a legit armorer. Kinda.
  • Details and Accessories: This is where things got really intricate. All those little gold bits and the, uh, Electro symbol thing? I made most of them out of clay, which was fun but messy. Painting them was tedious, but it’s all about the details, right? And the wig! Don’t even get me started on the wig. Styling that thing was a two-day project.

Putting it all together was the moment of truth. I remember standing in front of the mirror, decked out in my homemade Raiden Shogun outfit, and just being amazed. Like, I made that. Me. It wasn’t perfect, but it was mine. I even did a little photoshoot in my backyard, which felt super dorky but also awesome.

I wore it to a small local con, and people actually recognized the character! Some even asked for pictures. It was such a cool feeling, knowing that all that hard work paid off. Plus, I learned a ton about sewing, crafting, and, well, patience. Would I do it again? Probably. It was a blast, from downloading Genshin to strutting around like I rule Inazuma.

So, that’s my Raiden Shogun cosplay story. It was a wild ride, and I’m pretty proud of how it turned out. If you’re thinking about doing something like this, I say go for it. Just be ready for a lot of work, and maybe some frustration, but it’s totally worth it in the end.
