Alright, listen up, y’all. Today, we’re gonna talk about this Genshin Impact thing, the one all the young’uns are playin’. Heard it’s got a whole bunch of characters, more than folks in our village, that’s for sure. So, some smarty-pants made a quiz, a what-you-call-it, character thingy, to see which one you’re most like.

Now, I ain’t played this game myself, too busy with my chickens and whatnot. But from what I hear, these characters, they got all sorts of powers and weapons. Like, fire and water and such, kinda like the old stories my grandma used to tell. There’s this Zhongli fella, born on the last day of the year, they say. Sounds like a stubborn goat to me, always butting heads.

This quiz, it asks you questions, you know, like “What do you like to eat?” or “Are you a fighter or a thinker?” Then, it spits out a character, says you’re like ’em. Now, I reckon that’s a bunch of hogwash, but the kids, they eat it up. They get all excited if they get a strong character, or one that looks pretty. I tell ya, they’re more worried ’bout these fake people than their own chores.

• They got all sorts of characters, some with five stars, some with four. Don’t ask me what that means, sounds like somethin’ they put on fancy hotels.
• And get this, some characters are harder to get than a hen’s teeth. You gotta spend money, or somethin’, to get ’em. Sounds like a rip-off to me.
• There’s this Amber girl, folks say she’s one of the easiest to get. Probably ‘cause she ain’t that special, just like some folks I know.

The quiz, it’s got a whole mess of questions, more than you can shake a stick at. They ask about your favorite color, your favorite animal, all sorts of things. And then, poof, you’re magically like some sword-wielding, magic-slinging…person. Honestly, makes more sense to compare yourself to your neighbor, at least you see them every day.

They even got characters that ain’t even out yet! How in the world can you be like someone who ain’t even real yet? It’s like sayin’ you’re like a baby that ain’t even been born. Makes no sense, I tell ya. No sense at all.

This quiz, it’s got more than seventy different results, they say. Seventy! That’s more folks than live in three villages put together. How can they even keep track of all them? It’s a wonder their brains don’t explode.

Some smart folks, they even made a list, a whole list, of all the characters, what kind of powers they got, and what weapons they use. I saw it once, looked like chicken scratch to me. But the kids, they pore over it like it’s the good book. They talk about elements, like fire and water and wind, and weapons, like swords and bows and…I don’t even know what half of ’em are. They could be usin’ that brainpower to fix the leaky roof, I tell ya.

And they argue, too! They argue about who’s the best character, who’s the strongest, who’s the prettiest. It’s like a barnyard squabble, only with more sparkly lights and funny names. I heard one kid yellin’ about addin’ “Miko” as a type-in for “Yae Miko.” Sounded like gibberish to me.

So, this Genshin Impact character quiz, it’s a big deal, I guess. The kids, they love it. Me? I’ll stick to my chickens and my garden. At least they don’t ask me silly questions or pretend to be somethin’ they ain’t. But hey, if it keeps ’em out of trouble, I suppose it ain’t all bad. Just wish they’d spend less time on this make-believe stuff and more time helpin’ around the house.

At the end of the day, it’s just a game, right? Like them checkers the old men play down at the store. Just with more… well, everything. More characters, more powers, more…nonsense. But if it makes folks happy, I guess it can’t hurt none. Still doesn’t make sense to me why you need a quiz to tell you who you are, should look in the mirror, see the hard-working person staring back. That’s who you are.
