genshin impact amber costume

Okay, so I’ve been wanting to make this Amber costume from Genshin Impact for a while now, and I finally decided to just go for it! I’m not a pro cosplayer or anything, but I enjoy making things, so I figured, why not?

First things first, I gathered a bunch of reference pictures. Seriously, like, a TON. Different angles, close-ups, the works. Gotta make sure I get all the little details, right?

Next, I started breaking down the costume into smaller, manageable parts. There’s the shorts, the top, the gloves, the boots… It can seem overwhelming at first, but once you look at each piece individually, it’s not so bad.

  • Shorts: I found some plain brown shorts at a thrift store that were pretty close to the right color. Score! I had to shorten them quite a bit and add some white trim to the bottom. That was a bit tricky, but I managed.
  • Top: This was probably the hardest part. I ended up buying a plain white corset top and modifying it. I added the gold details with some fabric paint and sewed on the red pieces. It’s not perfect, but hey, it works!
  • Gloves: I bought some long brown gloves and cut them to the right length. Then, I added the white details with fabric paint. Easy peasy.
  • Boots: I already had some brown boots that were kind of similar, so I just added some white fur trim to the top. Saved some money there!
  • Accessories: The goggles were made from some cheap plastic ones I found online, and I just painted them. The belt and pouches were made from some scrap fabric and foam.
  • Wig: I picked up a redish brown wig from a costume store. Had to style with some hair product, came out pretty good.

Putting It All Together

After working on each piece separately, it was finally time to put it all together! Trying everything on for the first time was pretty exciting. There were definitely some things I needed to adjust, like the fit of the top and the placement of some of the accessories. But overall, I was pretty happy with how it looked!

It took a few weeks of working on it here and there, but I finally finished the costume! It’s not perfect, and there are definitely things I could improve on, but I’m proud of what I accomplished. I wore the costume for a local anime gathering with friends, and got some great photos. All in all it turned out well!
