gamo wildcat whisper .177 reviews
Okay, here’s my experience with the Gamo Wildcat Whisper .177, presented in a blog-post style, focusing on my personal journey:
So, I finally got my hands on a Gamo Wildcat Whisper .177. I’d heard some chatter online, some good, some not so good, so I was itching to see for myself what the deal was.
Unboxing and First Impressions
First things first, getting it out of the box. Everything was packed nice and tight, no damage, which is always a good start. The rifle itself? It felt pretty solid, not too heavy, not too light. The synthetic stock seemed durable, although I’m usually more of a wood-stock kind of guy. But hey, it’s supposed to be an all-weather gun, so I’m willing to give it a go.
The included scope, a 4×32, looked a bit… basic. I mean, it’ll probably do the job for plinking, but I knew I’d probably want to upgrade that down the line.
Getting it Ready to Shoot
Next up, getting this thing ready to fire. It’s a break-barrel, so no messing around with CO2 cartridges, which I appreciated. Cocking it took a bit of effort, for sure, but it wasn’t anything crazy. I loaded up a .177 pellet – I went with some standard ones to start – and closed the barrel. That Whisper noise suppression system they talk about? Yeah, I could definitely tell it was quieter than some other air rifles I’ve used.

Putting It Through Its Paces
Time for the fun part! I set up some cans in my backyard – gotta love a classic target – and started shooting. Right away, I noticed the trigger was pretty smooth. Not too much creep, and it broke cleanly. I was hitting my targets consistently, even at a decent distance. The accuracy was definitely there, at least with my initial testing.
- First Shots: Grouping was tight, about an inch at 20 yards.
- Power: Plenty of punch. Went right through those cans, no problem.
- Noise: Definitely quieter than my older break-barrel. The neighbors will thank me.
My Overall Thoughts (So Far)
After a good afternoon of shooting, I have to say, I’m pretty impressed with the Gamo Wildcat Whisper .177. It’s accurate, powerful, and reasonably quiet. The scope is the only real weak point, but that’s an easy fix. Is it the perfect air rifle? Maybe not, but it’s definitely a solid option, especially for the price. I will change a better scope for it in the future.
I’m planning on taking it out for some more serious shooting soon, maybe even some pest control. I’ll keep you guys updated on how it performs in the long run!
