game dev story hardware technician

Alright, let’s talk about my little adventure trying to get a “Hardware Technician” in Game Dev Story. I’m no expert, but I figured I’d share my bumpy road to getting this role, ’cause it was a bit of a head-scratcher at first.

So, I started a new game, like always. Named my company something silly, hired a few eager beavers, and started churning out those early, awful games. You know, the ones that get like 2s and 3s in the reviews? Yeah, those.

The First Roadblock

I wanted a Hardware Technician early on. Thought it’d be cool, you know? I kept hiring, hoping one would magically appear. Nope. Just a bunch of Coders, Writers, Designers, and Sound Engineers. Lots of those. I even built that extra room thinking that I’d get some new applicant types – Still no Hardware Techs.

Experiment Time

I figured I needed to shake things up. I started doing some research, so I change my staff training. I remembered something about needing to have at least level 5 on all the staff members that I had to start.

  • Training Blitz: I started boosting everyone level.

Finally!

Guess what? After all that grinding, I finally, I put all my staff to level 5, I head back to hire more staff and BAM! There it was: Hardware Technician. I almost jumped out of my chair. Hired that person so fast, my finger almost broke.

My Takeaway

So, here’s the deal, from what I can tell, to get a Hardware Technician in Game Dev Story, you gotta:

  • Level all of you current staff to level 5.
  • Head to the hire staff menu, and you should see the option to hire the hardware tech.

It’s a bit of a grind, sure, but it’s totally worth it, that’s my experiance, hope this helps you get your Hardware Technician without pulling all your hair out like I almost did!
