game dev story hardware engineer unlock android

Okay, so I’ve been messing around with Game Dev Story, and I hit a wall trying to unlock the Hardware Engineer. Specifically, I wanted to get it working on my Android phone. Here’s how I finally cracked it, and man, was it a journey.

The Initial Grind

First, I made sure my company was good.

Played the game normally for a while, you know, making games, earning cash, hiring some staff. I focused on getting a few decent programmers and designers early on. Leveling them up is key, so I kept sending them to training. I think I had around 4-5 staff members before I even started thinking about the Hardware Engineer.

Research Data Farm

Then researched.

The real key is accumulating a lot of research data. I kept pumping out games, even mediocre ones, just to get that data flowing. I also made sure to use boosts whenever I could. Contract work helped a ton with this, too. It gives a nice chunk of data and cash, even if the projects aren’t super exciting.

The Waiting Game (and More Grinding)

Then Waited and kept going.

  • I kept my staff busy.
  • Made games.
  • Trained my employees.
  • Did contract work.

Honestly, a lot of this part was just waiting. I think I went through at least a couple of in-game years before the Hardware Engineer option even popped up. It’s not something that happens immediately.

Unlocking the Hardware Engineer!

Unlocked It!

One time I randomly checked the “Hire” option, and BAM! There it was, the Hardware Engineer. I don’t think there’s a specific trigger, you just need enough research data. I hired him straight away. And that is all.

My main takeaway? Patience and persistence. Keep playing, keep researching, and eventually, you’ll get there. It’s not a race, it’s more like a slow-burn strategy thing. Good luck, and have fun building your game empire!
