game dev story cheats hardware engineer
Okay, so I’ve been messing around with “Game Dev Story” again, because, why not? It’s a classic. And this time, I was determined to finally crack the code on getting that elusive Hardware Engineer. I’ve tried a bunch of times before, always ending up with a team full of Hackers and Super Hackers, but never the engineer. So, here’s what I did this time, and spoiler alert: it actually worked!
The Plan
First, I knew I needed to start fresh. No save files, no carry-over staff. Clean slate. I started a new game and focused on building up a solid foundation. That meant:
- Hiring Smart: Initially, I hired folks with decent stats, but I wasn’t picky about their job titles. Just needed bodies to get things rolling.
- Training Like Crazy: Every time I had some cash, I dumped it into training. My thinking was, the higher their stats, the better chance I’d have of unlocking the engineer later on.
- Taking Contracts: Contracts are your bread and butter early on. They give you cash and research data, both of which are crucial.
The Grind
This part was a bit of a slog, I won’t lie. I spent a good chunk of time just cycling through contracts, training my staff, and releasing games. I made sure to:
- Focus and rotate the Training Types: I tried to rotate the training on my team, first with the “Going for Walks”, followed by the “Reading” books, and just rotated all of my staff through the two, over and over.
I repeated the same process for all of my staff and tried to make sure I had a variety.
The Breakthrough!
Then, it finally happened. I think it was after my fifth or sixth game, I had one employee get a career change, at level 5, he became a “Hardware Engineer”!I was stoked! All that grinding finally paid off.

What I Think Worked
Honestly, I am not 100% sure exactly what triggered it, but here’s my best guess:
- High Overall Stats: My staff had pretty high stats across the board, thanks to all the training.
- Job Level 5: I noticed the career change item was used when the staff was at level 5.
- Patience (Lots of it): This took time. It wasn’t a quick fix.
So, yeah, that’s my “Game Dev Story” Hardware Engineer story. It’s not a guaranteed cheat code, but it worked for me. If you’re struggling to get that engineer, give this method a shot. It might just work for you too! Good luck, and happy game deving!
