game dev story 2 hardware engineer
Alright, so I’ve been messing around with Game Dev Story 2, and let me tell you, getting a solid Hardware Engineer is a game-changer. I wanted to share how I finally managed to snag one, ’cause it took me a few tries, I’m not gonna lie.
Starting Out
First, I made sure to keep training my staff. I mean, constantly. I focused a lot on the guys I hired early on. I figured getting their stats up was way more important than hiring new people all the time. I kept throwing money at training, pretty much any chance I got. It felt slow at first, but it paid off.
Building up My Team
- Training, Training, Training: Seriously, I can’t stress this enough. I focused on boosting their Programming and Scenario skills first, seemed like the most useful.
- Job Changes: I kept cycling my staff through different jobs. You know, like, start them as a Coder, then move them to Writer, stuff like that. It seemed to help boost their overall stats a bit faster.
- Contracts: I did take every contract possible, to collect money and research data.
The Waiting Game (and Some Luck!)
Honestly, it felt like forever. I kept producing games, doing contracts, and just generally grinding away. I think the key is to just keep playing. I remember I was working on some random racing game, not even paying that much attention, and BAM! The option to hire a Hardware Engineer popped up.
It’s a Numbers Game: I think it really comes down to having enough staff with high enough stats in the right areas. So keep training, keep changing jobs, and keep playing! It will appear when you have good stats!
Finally Got One!
I was so stoked! I hired him immediately, obviously. Having a Hardware Engineer really does make a difference. My console development speed shot up, and it felt like my games were just… better. Totally worth the grind.

So, yeah, that’s my story. It’s not some magic formula, it’s just about putting in the time and, I guess, having a bit of luck. Keep at it, and you’ll get your Hardware Engineer eventually!
