Today, I was trying to check out a PC game requirement and the website asked me to download a hardware scanner to detect whether my PC could run the game or not. I was like, “Sure, why not?” So I downloaded this thing called “Game Debate Hardware Scanner”.

After I installed it and clicked “run”, the damn thing just showed a blank screen! Nothing else, no buttons, no text, just a white, empty window. I was confused, to say the least. I mean, what the heck was that?

First, I tried running it as an administrator. Right-clicked, selected “Run as administrator”, and hoped for the best. Nope, still a blank screen. Okay, moving on.

Then I thought, maybe it’s a compatibility issue? So I went to the properties, you know, right-click, properties, then the “Compatibility” tab. I tried running it in compatibility mode for different Windows versions, like Windows 7, Windows 8. I even tried the “Reduced color mode” and “Run in 640×480 screen resolution” options. Still nothing, just that annoying blank screen staring back at me.

Next, I did what everyone does when they face a tech problem – I restarted my computer. A classic move, but hey, sometimes it works miracles. But in this case, it didn’t do anything. Blank screen again. Great.

I even disabled my antivirus software temporarily, thinking maybe it was interfering with the scanner. Nope, that wasn’t it either. The blank screen persisted, like a stubborn stain that just wouldn’t go away.

Feeling defeated, I uninstalled the scanner, downloaded it again from the website, and reinstalled it. I thought maybe the first installation was corrupted or something. But guess what? Blank screen. Again.

At this point, I was getting pretty frustrated. I mean, how hard is it to get a simple hardware scanner to work? I started looking at my system’s event viewer, hoping to find some error logs that could give me a clue. But, of course, nothing related to the scanner was there. I checked if any other app was causing this problem, but I could not find anything.

Finally, I gave up. I decided to manually check my hardware specs and compare them to the game’s requirements. It was a bit of a hassle, but at least it was something I could do. Turns out, my PC could run the game just fine. I found out my hardware was not a problem by checking my specs on the task manager.

So, yeah, that’s my story of dealing with the Game Debate Hardware Scanner. A total waste of time, if you ask me. If any of you folks have faced this issue and found a solution, please let me know. Otherwise, just avoid this thing and save yourself the headache.

Anyway, I hope you guys don’t need to face this kind of silly problem, especially when you want to enjoy some PC games. This scanner really needs to be fixed by the developers!

  • Steps I took:
  • Ran as administrator.
  • Tried compatibility modes.
  • Restarted my computer.
  • Disabled antivirus.
  • Reinstalled the scanner.
  • Checked event viewer.

Still no luck, but at least I figured out I could run the game. Small victories, right?

In the end, I had to give up on the scanner.

It was just not worth the trouble. But hey, at least I learned something: sometimes, the old-fashioned way of doing things is still the best. And maybe, just maybe, technology isn’t always our friend.

Well, that’s all for now, fellas. Let me know what you think. Until next time, peace out!
