game capture hardware test

Okay, so today I’m messing around with game capture hardware. I’ve been wanting to get into game streaming for a while, and I figured it was finally time to take the plunge and get my setup sorted. This all started last week when I finally decided to just do it. I’d been putting it off forever, but you know, no time like the present.

First things first, I had to decide what I was gonna use. I spent a couple of days just browsing online, checking out different capture cards. Ended up looking at like, 20 or more different ones? Internal, external, you name it. I wanted to make sure I was getting something decent without totally breaking the bank.

After all that browsing and reading reviews, I narrowed it down to a few options. Then came the fun part – testing them out. I got my hands on a couple of different cards from friends who are also into streaming, and I ordered a couple more that seemed promising.

I spent the better part of a week just plugging these things in, recording footage, and seeing how they performed. I used a couple of different games, some fast-paced, some more chill, just to see how the cards handled different situations. I really put them through their paces, recording for hours at a time, messing with settings, and just generally trying to push them to their limits.

Here’s a quick rundown of what I tested:

  • One internal card: This one was a bit of a pain to install, had to crack open my PC case and everything. But once I got it in there, it worked pretty well.
  • Two external cards: Way easier to set up, just plug and play, basically. One of them was super compact, which was cool.

The internal one, after all that trouble, was actually great. No noticeable lag, and the video quality was sharp. As for the externals, one of them was surprisingly good, like really impressive for its size. The other one, not so much. Had some issues with dropped frames and the colors looked a bit washed out.

After all this testing, I finally settled on one of the external cards. It just seemed like the best balance of performance, ease of use, and price. It wasn’t the cheapest, but it definitely wasn’t the most expensive either.

So yeah, that’s my game capture hardware adventure. It was a bit of a process, but I’m pretty happy with how it turned out. Now I just gotta figure out the actual streaming part, but that’s a whole other story!

Hope you enjoy the process of my sharing. See ya!
