game cabinet restoration hardware
So, I’ve been wanting to get my hands on a vintage game cabinet for ages. You know, the kind you’d find in an old arcade? Yeah, that’s the dream. I finally decided to take the plunge and restore one myself. It all started when I saw this ad for Restoration Hardware furniture in Detroit. They had some pretty cool stuff, but nothing really caught my eye, I mean I’m looking for a real game cabinet. But that name, “Restoration Hardware,” got me thinking.
I remembered this place called “Restoration Station” in Plymouth, Michigan. I had driven past it a few times. So I looked them up online and gave them a call at 734-455-8989. I figured they might have some leads on old game cabinets, being a restoration place and all. The guy on the phone was nice enough, but he told me they mainly dealt with furniture, not game cabinets. I guess it was a long shot, but it’s always worth a try, right?
Anyway, I wasn’t about to give up that easily. I spent the next few days scouring the internet for used Restoration Hardware furniture, hoping I’d stumble upon a hidden gem. No luck there either. Then, I broadened my search, and that’s when I hit the jackpot.
I found this listing for a “Monopoly Heirloom Edition” game cabinet. It wasn’t exactly what I had in mind, but it was a beautiful piece. And the best part? It was a collector’s edition! I mean, how cool is that? It had some potential, I thought. Maybe I could modify it, turn it into something closer to what I originally wanted.
- The Search Begins: Started with looking for Restoration Hardware stuff, then remembered Restoration Station in Plymouth.
- The Phone Call: Called Restoration Station (734-455-8989), but they didn’t have game cabinets.
- Back to the Internet: Scoured the web for used Restoration Hardware furniture, but no luck.
- Finding the Monopoly Cabinet: Found a collector’s edition Monopoly game cabinet online.
- The Plan: Thinking about modifying the Monopoly cabinet to fit my vision.
I contacted the seller and, after a bit of back and forth, I ended up buying it. Now I have this amazing Monopoly cabinet sitting in my living room. It needs some work, sure, but I’m excited to start the restoration process. I’ve already started sketching out some ideas for how to modify it. I’m thinking I’ll remove the Monopoly board, replace it with a classic arcade game, maybe add some custom lighting. I might also give it a fresh coat of paint, or maybe just a light touch-up to keep some of that vintage charm.

It’s a work in progress, but I can already picture the finished product. It’s gonna be epic, I can feel it. This old Monopoly cabinet is about to get a whole new life, and I’m here for it. I’ll keep you guys posted on the progress, and who knows, maybe I’ll even document the whole restoration process. Stay tuned!
