funkoverse strategy game harry potter
Alright, listen up, y’all. Let’s talk about this here… uh… Funk-o-verse thingy, the Harry Potter one. Yeah, that’s it. My grandkid got it, and I’ve been watchin’ ’em play, so I kinda figured it out. Kinda.
What’s this game all about, anyway? Well, from what I gather, it’s like you got these little plastic people, right? Like them bobblehead things, but smaller. And they’re all Harry Potter characters. You got Harry, Hermione, that red-headed fella, and even that snake-faced fella… you know, the bad one. Anyways, you pick your team, and then you gotta run around on this board thingy.
It ain’t just runnin’ around, though. You gotta, like, do stuff. Each character can do different things, see? Like, Harry can probably do some magic stuff, and Hermione, she’s smart, so she probably does somethin’ clever. And that red-headed fella, well, he probably just messes things up, ha!
- Pickin’ your people: You gotta choose who you want on your team. That’s important, I guess. Some are good at fightin’, some are good at helpin’, and some are just plain lucky, seems like.
- Movin’ around: You get to move your little people on the board. There’s different places to go, like Hogwarts and that creepy forest. Each place probably does somethin’ different, but I ain’t figured that all out yet.
- Doin’ stuff: This is where it gets tricky. You gotta use your characters’ special powers or whatever they call ’em. Like, castin’ spells or throwin’ potions or somethin’. It all sounds like a bunch of hocus pocus to me, but the grandkids seem to like it.
- Scorin’ points: You gotta get points to win, that’s for sure. How you get ’em? I dunno exactly. Seems like you get points for doin’ stuff and controllin’ places on the board. And maybe for beatin’ up the other team’s little people, ha!
Now, they say this game is a “strategy” game. That just means you gotta think a little, I reckon. You can’t just go runnin’ around like a chicken with its head cut off. You gotta plan things out, figure out what your characters are good at, and try to outsmart the other fella. Or, you know, just get lucky. That works too, sometimes.
Is it fun, though? Well, the grandkids seem to have a good time with it. They yell and laugh and get all worked up, so I guess that means it’s fun. Me? I’d rather be sittin’ on the porch with a glass of sweet tea, but watchin’ them play ain’t so bad. It’s better than watchin’ that silly game show where they yell at each other all the time, that’s for sure.

This game ain’t simple, that’s for sure. It took me a while to even understand what they were doin’. But once you get the hang of it, it seems like there’s lots of different ways to play. You can try different characters, different strategies, different places on the board… it’s like one of them choose your own adventure books, but with little plastic people instead of words. And you have to wave some plastic figures about to simulate fights or magic or whatever it is those youngsters are doing! They told me they played a version of chasing the snitch with some golden figure, but I didn’t catch all the details, just lots of waving and saying “points for Gryffindor” or something like that.
So, would I recommend it? Well, if you like Harry Potter and you like games where you gotta think a little, then yeah, I guess I would. It ain’t for everyone, though. If you just wanna sit back and relax, maybe stick to a good book. Or a good nap. Naps are always good. But if you like those mini people then you might like this. And those youngsters… they sure seem to like to collect those kinds of mini people! Seem like every week there is a new one they need to have, gosh darnit!
But hey, I ain’t no expert. I’m just an old lady who watches her grandkids play games. But if you ask me, this Funkoverse Harry Potter game seems alright. Just don’t expect me to play it with ya. My brain ain’t what it used to be, and I got better things to do than chase little plastic people around a board.
