Well, let me tell ya, young’uns, about them free online real-time strategy games. You know, the kind where you gotta think real hard, like plannin’ which hen to sell at the market, but way more complicated. They call it “strategy” and “real-time.” Don’t ask me what that means exactly, but it sounds fancy, eh?

Anyways, there’s a whole bunch of ’em out there, just floatin’ around on this here “internet” thingamajig. My grandson, he showed me. Said it’s like checkers, but with more stuff and it moves faster. You got little armies and buildin’s and you gotta tell ’em what to do, all at once. It’s a real brain twister, I tell ya.

Some of these games, they’re right there on the web, you don’t even gotta download nothin’. Just click a button and boom, you’re in charge, bossin’ little digital fellas around. My grandson plays somethin’ called “Stick War,” looks like stick figures fightin’, but he says it’s deep. Then there’s this “Creeper World” thing, somethin’ about fightin’ a goo that spreads everywhere. Scary stuff, but he seems to like it. And another one called “Obliterate Everything 3”, sounds violent, doesn’t it? Kids these days…

Now, I heard there’s hundreds, maybe even thousands of these games. My head spins just thinkin’ about it. They got all sorts too. Some are about fightin’ wars, like them old Roman movies, you know, with the swords and shields. Others are about buildin’ cities, makin’ sure everyone has enough food and houses, kinda like runnin’ a big farm, but with more people and less chickens.

• War Games: These are all about fightin’ and conquerin’. You gotta build an army, train your soldiers, and then go attack your enemies. Just like them roosters fightin’ in the yard, but bigger.
• City Builders: These are about buildin’ and managin’ a city. You gotta make sure everyone has food, water, and shelter. And keep them happy, otherwise they might start complainin’, just like my old man used to.
• Resource Management: These are about gatherin’ and managin’ resources, like wood, stone, and food. You gotta use your resources wisely, or you’ll run out, and then you’re in trouble. Kinda like makin’ sure you got enough firewood for the winter.

And the best part? A lot of ’em are free! Can you believe it? Free as the air, almost. Of course, some of ’em try to get you to spend money, buyin’ this and that, but you don’t have to. You can just play for free, if you’re careful. My grandson, he’s always tellin’ me about “in-app purchases,” sounds like a scam to me, but he says it’s how they make money. I told him, “Boy, you better not be wastin’ your money on them digital doodads!”

They say some of these games are real old, like from the time when computers were big boxes that took up a whole room. And some are brand new, shiny and fancy. It don’t matter to me, as long as it’s fun. And free, of course. Gotta save them pennies for a rainy day.

So, if you’re lookin’ for somethin’ to do, somethin’ to keep your brain busy, give these free online real-time strategy games a try. Just don’t get too hooked, or you’ll end up like my grandson, starin’ at that screen all day long. Remember to go outside, get some fresh air, and maybe even feed the chickens. That’s what I always say.

Playing for Free is a good thing, especially when you don’t have much money to spend on fancy games. These free online RTS games are a good way to pass the time and have some fun without breaking the bank. And you can learn a thing or two, I guess. My grandson says it teaches him how to think ahead and plan things. Maybe he’s right. Or maybe he’s just tryin’ to justify all that time he spends on that darn computer.
