Fortnite’s Simpsons Season: Battle Pass, Skins, And Everything Else We Know

With Fortnite OG existing as its own permanent mode now, we aren’t expecting another throwback mini-season in the vein of last year’s Chapter 2 Remix or the original OG season the year before.Instead, the hot rumor since the beginning of May is that we’ll be getting another collaboration mini-season like Star Wars season in May, this time with The Simpsons taking center stage.

When you consider Epic’s cozy relationship with Disney, plus its long history of collabs with animated TV show–including three Fox cartoon dads in June, and Beavis and Butthead in September–this rumor sounded pretty plausible. Indeed, there’s been nearly no skepticism about it at all. And at this point, the thing has leaked so much that we can almost consider it announced. Let’s dive into what we know.

When would the Simpsons mini-season start?

According to next season’s update schedule, Chapter 6 Season 4 should end on Saturday, November 1, which indicates it’ll have a live finale event to wrap things up during the day. If things work the way they did after the Death Star Sabotage event in June, the new mini-season would begin on the evening of November 1, after 4-7 hours of maintenance. Otherwise, it would start the next morning, on November 2.

Is the Simpsons mini-season officially confirmed?

Not quite, but it might as well have been. So far, every bit of info about the purported Simpsons season comes from leakers and dataminers, and until recently it had all just been written descriptions. But in the most recent game update on October 9, the Kang and Kodos UFO glider was found unencrypted in the files, with this description: “Can you believe it Kodos? They left us out of the Battle Pass.” Dataminers also indicate in the lead-up to the new season, the UFO will have a chance to spawn next to the battle bus at the start off Battle Royale matches–that will likely be the first official announcement.

But before they could do that–on October 24, the key art leaked.

What will Simpsons season entail?

As with the Star Wars-themed season in May, we’re expecting a five-week season, ending in early December, with a smaller-than-usual battle pass that comes with five skins. Word is that the battle pass lineup will include skins for Ned Flanders, Homer and Marge Simpson, and Simpsons-themed versions of Peely and Fishstick. The key art indicates Bart Simpson, Lisa Simpson, Moe, and Krusty the Clown will be skins that can be purchased in the item shop. Lisa and Bart will be in mech suits a la Mecha-Morty, since they’re children.

The most surprising detail among the rumors thus far is that the Simpsons will have an entire map modeled after the Simpsons’ hometown of Springfield, but the original claim during the summer was that it will be the size of a Reload map and support only 40 players. A much more recent rumor says again that the full map will be Simpsons-themed and possibly cel shaded, but this time there’s no talk about the size of the map.

As for gameplay changes, it appears, based on the key art, that Homer’s remote will be a gameplay item somehow, and junk rifts will drop giant donuts during this season. Nothing has otherwise leaked about the new items, but the Simpsons probably doesn’t lend itself to taking over the entire loot pool the way Star Wars did.
