exploding cats game review

Well, let me tell ya ’bout this here game, Exploding Kittens. My grandkids, they got it, and we played it last weekend. It’s a card game, ya see, and it’s a bit silly, but we had a good laugh.

So, the whole thing is, ya gotta draw cards, right? And in that deck, there’s these Exploding Kittens. Draw one of them, and boom! You’re out. Unless, of course, ya got somethin’ to stop it. That’s where the other cards come in.

Ya got cards like Defuse, see? If ya draw an Exploding Kitten, you can play that Defuse card, and you’re safe. Then you put the kitten back in the deck, wherever ya want. Sneaky, huh?

  • Defuse Card: Saves ya from the boom!
  • Nope Card: Stops another player’s action.
  • See the Future: Peek at the top cards.

Then there’s this Nope card. Someone plays somethin’, ya slap down that Nope, and they can’t do it. Stops ’em right in their tracks. My grandson, he kept Noping me every time I tried to peek at the cards. Little rascal!

And speaking of peeking, there’s a card for that too. See the Future, they call it. Lets ya look at the next few cards on top of the deck. Handy if ya wanna know if a boom is comin’.

We played a bunch of rounds, and it was a hoot. Sometimes ya get lucky, sometimes ya don’t. My granddaughter, she won most of the time. She’s a clever one, always plannin’ ahead.

The game’s got pictures of cats, but they’re kinda weird-lookin’. Not like any cats I’ve seen. But the grandkids like ’em, so that’s what matters.

Now, the rules, they’re simple enough. Even an old gal like me figured ’em out quick. Draw a card, play a card, try not to blow up. That’s pretty much it.

Is it fun? Sure is, if ya like a bit of silly fun. It ain’t chess, but it’ll get ya laughin’.

Is it hard? Nope, not really. Luck plays a big part, but ya gotta use yer head a little too.

Would I play it again? You betcha! Those grandkids of mine, they’ll be askin’ for another round next time they visit.

So, if you’re lookin’ for a game that’s easy to learn, quick to play, and good for a few laughs, Exploding Kittens ain’t a bad choice. Just don’t get too attached to those kittens. They tend to explode, ya know.
