escape from tarkov error receiving game session data new hardware
Okay, so I’ve been pulling my hair out for the past couple of days trying to get Escape from Tarkov to work. Every time I tried to jump into a raid, I kept getting hit with this annoying “error receiving game session data” message. And it’s a new PC, so I’m thinking, what the heck is going on? I built it, it should just work, right?
First, I did what everyone always suggests: I waited. I figured maybe it was just the servers having a hiccup. I gave it a good 15-20 minutes, restarted the game a few times, but no dice. The error was still there, staring me in the face.
Then, I started digging around online. Of course, there are tons of forum posts and Reddit threads about similar issues. I saw some people talking about an Error 522, which is a connection timeout. Mine wasn’t exactly that, but it felt related. I started to think, maybe my internet was having a bad day or something.
One suggestion I found was to do an integrity check on the game files. I thought, why not? I right-clicked on the game in the launcher, found the option, and let it do its thing. It took a while, but when it finished, I was hopeful. Sadly, when I tried to launch the game again, I was greeted by the same error message. What a bummer!
- Wait it out: Initially, I thought it might be a temporary server issue, so I waited for about 15-20 minutes and tried restarting the game.
- Integrity check: I performed an integrity check of the game files through the launcher, hoping it would resolve any corrupted data.
I even saw some chatter about it being related to Windows 10 or 11 updates. Something about the game servers not being up to date with the latest patches. But I mean, I just updated everything, it has to be good, right? I was really starting to lose my patience.

There was this one post I found, where someone mentioned resetting their EFT account. A full-blown profile reset. It seemed a bit drastic, but honestly, I was getting desperate. I found this guy, u/KAID3N on Reddit, who swore by it. I bit the bullet and went to the Escape from Tarkov website, logged in, and found the option to reset my profile. It felt like saying goodbye to all my progress, but I was at my wit’s end.
A Glimmer of Hope
After the reset, I launched the game, fingers crossed, holding my breath. And guess what? It worked! I was finally able to get into a raid. I’m not sure it can be called a success. I lost all my stuff, but at least I could play. It was like a breath of fresh air. It seems like a pretty extreme solution, but if you’re as desperate as I was, it might just do the trick. I’m just glad I can finally get back to getting my butt kicked in Tarkov. So, yeah, that’s my story of how I wrestled with this error and finally, maybe, came out on top. At least I learned something.
