Oh, honey, let me tell you about this emo Roblox avatar thing. It’s what all the young’uns are doing these days. My grandkids, they’re always on that Roblox, playing games and dressing up their little characters. Now, this emo thing, it’s a kind of style, I guess. Like those rockstars, all sad-looking and dressed in black. But they ain’t rockstars, just them little things on their computer game.

My granddaughter, bless her heart, she tried to explain it to me. Said it’s like being a little sad on the internet. They want these Roblox avatar fellas to look all dark and gloomy. Like they got a cloud over their head all the time. They want to make an emo avatar. I reckon it’s just a phase, like when I used to wear those bell-bottom pants. It’s a kind of fashion, you know?

Now, to get one of these emo Roblox avatar things, you gotta have that Roblox thingy first. It’s like a game, but more than a game. You gotta make a login, like you’re signing up for the mail, but on the computer. My grandson helped me set it up once, but I forgot my password faster than I could say “bingo.”

• Then you gotta make one of them accounts.
• Pick a name, any name will do.
• Then you make that little person, that’s your avatar.

Once you’re in, that’s when the fun begins. You can change how your little Roblox avatar looks. Clothes, hair, everything. For this emo thing, they like black. Lots of black. Like a crow, but on your computer.

They got black shirts, black pants, black shoes, probably even black underwear if they could. And the hair, oh, the hair! It’s all spiky and messy, like they just rolled out of bed after a bad dream. I saw one with hair that was so black, it looked like a hole in the screen! It’s part of making an emo avatar on Roblox.

And they got all sorts of things they can add. Like guitars, but they ain’t for playing music. Just for show. And masks, like they’re hiding something. I saw one with a mask that looked like a skull. Spooky, I tell ya! And bees, can you believe that? These little fellas got bees flying around them. I don’t know why, maybe they like honey.

There are videos, you know. Lots of videos. My granddaughter showed me one with all sorts of emo avatar ideas. They got numbers, like 50+ or something. So many ways to make your little person look sad. One had this sad-looking face, and one had these big, round eyes, like a sad puppy. It is really easy to make an emo Roblox avatar.

I don’t know what “Y2K” is, but I heard that Roblox emo avatar have something to do with it. But the kids were talking about it one day. It’s some kind of old style, from back in the day. Like the 90s or something. I was around in the 90s, but I don’t remember all this black and gloom. We had colors back then! Bright colors! But hey, to each their own, I suppose.

This Roblox thing, it’s a whole world in there. You can make friends, play games, build things. My grandson, he built a whole house in there! A whole house, right there on the computer. I wouldn’t want to live in it, though. No real sunshine in there, and I bet the plumbing’s a nightmare.

Now, they got this thing called Roblox Studio. Sounds fancy, don’t it? Like a movie studio. It’s where you can make your own games and stuff. You can choose a theme, whatever that means. Like a birthday party theme, but for your game. I saw one that looked like a jungle, with all sorts of green things and wild animals. But my granddaughter, she likes the dark and gloomy ones for her emo avatar.

They got a group, too. Like a club. Where they talk about their Roblox things and share ideas. They call it a “Discord Server” or something. Sounds like a bunch of arguing to me, but they seem to like it. They can post their ideas on there. Like a message board, but on the computer. The little fellas will discuss how to make an emo Roblox avatar on there.

So, that’s about all I know about this emo Roblox avatar business. It’s a strange world, this internet. But the kids seem to like it. They spend hours on that Roblox, dressing up their little people and playing their games. As long as they’re happy, I guess that’s all that matters. But I still think they should go outside and get some fresh air once in a while. There’s more to life than just staring at a screen, you know?
