earth board game review
Alright, let’s talk about this “Earth” board game, you know, the one with all them cards and stuff. Don’t go thinkin’ I’m some fancy pants reviewer, I just like playin’ games, plain and simple.
So, this Earth game, it’s like you’re makin’ your own little island. You got these cards, see? Lots of ’em. And you gotta put ’em down in a square, like four across and four down. That’s your island, your own little world, ya hear?
First time you play, it might seem like a lot. Like, “Oh, what’s this card do? And that one?” But really, it ain’t so hard once you get the hang of it. It’s like plantin’ a garden, I guess. You gotta figure out what goes where, what helps what grow.
The whole point is to get your island workin’ good, like a machine. You put down some plants, they give you stuff, then you use that stuff to get more plants, and so on. It’s like, you plant a seed, it grows, then you get more seeds from that plant, you get me?
- You got your plants cards, all different kinds.
- Then you got your land cards, like dirt and rocks and such.
- And you gotta put ’em together just right to make your island the best.
Some folks say it’s like that bird game, “Wingspan”. I ain’t never played that one, but I hear tell it’s kinda similar. You know, collectin’ things, makin’ ’em work together. If you like that kinda thing, you’ll probably like this Earth board game.

Now, there’s lots of ways to win, which I like. I don’t like them games where there’s only one way to do things. This one, you can try different things, see what works best for you. Maybe you want lots of little plants, maybe you want big strong ones, it’s up to you. It’s about building your own vibrant ecosystem, makes you feel like you’re really creating somethin’.
I played it with my grandkids, and even them young’uns figured it out pretty quick. Of course, they mostly just liked lookin’ at the pretty pictures on the cards, but hey, that’s part of the fun, ain’t it? The game mechanics are pretty straightforward, easy to learn even if you ain’t played a lot of board games.
One thing I will say, it takes up a bit of space. You gotta have a good-sized table to spread everything out. And all them cards, you gotta keep ’em organized or you’ll be lookin’ all over for the one you need. And it can take some time to play, this ain’t no five-minute game, so be prepared to settle in for a while. But that’s fine by me, I like a game that lasts a bit, gives you time to think.
So, overall, I’d say it’s a good game. Not too hard, not too easy. It’s got pretty pictures, lots of different ways to play, and it makes you think a little. If you’re lookin’ for somethin’ new to play on a rainy afternoon, give this Earth board game a try. You just might find yourself hooked on creating your own little island paradise, piece by piece. It’s fun, plain and simple, and that’s all that matters to me.
Final thoughts? If you enjoy strategy and watching things grow, you’ll probably have a good time with this game. And it looks pretty darn nice on the table, too. But don’t take my word for it, try it yourself and see what you think!
