dumb ways to die card game review
Alright, so I got my hands on this “Dumb Ways to Die” card game. I saw it online, looked kinda fun, figured why not? It’s based on that viral video, you know the one, with the beans doing all sorts of dumb stuff to… well, you get it.
First off, unboxing this thing was pretty straightforward. It comes with a deck of cards, some tokens, and a little instruction booklet. The cards have these goofy-looking bean characters on them, each with a different dumb way to meet their end. Kinda morbid, but hey, that’s the whole point, right?
Gameplay-wise, it’s pretty simple. You draw cards, play them, and try to collect sets of “dead” beans. There are some action cards that can shake things up – steal cards from other players, skip turns, that sort of thing. It’s easy to pick up, even my friends who don’t usually play games got into it pretty quickly.
We played a few rounds, and I gotta say, it’s a good laugh. The game really captures the humor of the original video. You end up doing silly things, like mimicking the beans’ death poses or making sound effects. It’s definitely not a serious game, more of a party thing to play with friends when you’re just chilling.
Here’s the thing, though:
- It can get a bit repetitive after a while. Once you’ve seen all the cards a few times, the novelty kinda wears off.
- The action cards can sometimes feel a little unbalanced. Some are way more powerful than others, which can lead to some frustrating moments.
- Also, there is some kind of rule where the player has to mimic the death of the card played, but I found that really hard to follow and my friends and I mostly ignore it.
But overall, I’d say “Dumb Ways to Die” card game is a decent buy if you’re looking for a light, funny game to play with friends. It’s not gonna blow your mind, but it’s a good time-killer. Just don’t expect anything too deep or strategic. It’s all about the laughs, and maybe a little bit of that dark humor we all secretly enjoy. Just maybe, next time we will follow all the rules, I guess.
