Well, howdy there! I’m gonna tell ya ’bout these here Christian video games, ya know, the ones them city folk are always gabbing about. Now, I ain’t no fancy gamer or nothin’, but I know a good game when I see one, and I surely know what’s right and what ain’t, just like the Good Book tells us.

First off, let’s talk ’bout what makes a game “Christian.” It ain’t just about slappin’ a cross on it and callin’ it a day, no sirree! It’s gotta have some good in it, ya know? Like teachin’ ya ’bout the Bible, or showin’ ya how to make good choices. It’s gotta be somethin’ that makes ya a better person, not some of that shootin’ and killin’ stuff them young’uns are always playin’.

Now, I heard tell of some games that tell stories straight from the Bible. That’s right, stories ’bout David and Goliath, Noah and his ark, and even Jesus hisself! I reckon that’s a good way to learn, ‘specially for them youngsters who can’t sit still long enough to read the whole Bible. And it ain’t just for kids neither! I bet even us old folks could learn a thing or two.

Then there’s them games where ya gotta make choices. Ya know, like whether to help someone out or be selfish. That’s important, ’cause life’s all about makin’ the right choices, ain’t it? If a game can help ya practice doin’ what’s right, then I say it’s a good game. It’s like the preacher always says, “practice makes perfect,” and that goes for bein’ a good Christian too.

  • I heard tell of some games where ya gotta work together with other folks. That’s good, ’cause it teaches ya ’bout teamwork and helpin’ each other out. We all need a little help sometimes, and it’s important to be there for your neighbor.
  • And then there’s them games that are just plain fun, but still good for ya. Ya know, like puzzles and things that make ya think. Ain’t nothin’ wrong with havin’ a little fun, long as it ain’t hurtin’ nobody or goin’ against what the Bible says.

Now, I ain’t played all these games myself, but I’ve heard good things. And I reckon it’s important to have games that families can play together. Too much these days, everyone’s glued to their own screens, not talkin’ to each other. A good Christian game should bring folks together, not tear ’em apart.

I also heard tell of some folks who get together online to play these games and talk about their faith. That’s a mighty fine idea, I reckon. It’s like havin’ church, but with video games! As long as they’re keepin’ it clean and respectful, I say it’s a good way to connect with other Christians and build each other up.

And let’s not forget about them game reviews. Now, I ain’t got no fancy computer or nothin’, but I hear there’s websites and such where folks write about these games and tell ya if they’re any good. That’s important, ’cause ya don’t wanna waste your money on somethin’ that ain’t worth playin’. And if them reviews are comin’ from a Christian perspective, well, that’s even better! That way, ya know the game’s gonna be somethin’ that lines up with your values.

So, there ya have it. That’s my take on these here Christian video games. I reckon they can be a good thing, long as they’re teachin’ good values and bringin’ folks closer to God. And if ya ain’t sure about a game, just remember what the Bible says: “Test everything, hold fast what is good” (1 Thessalonians 5:21). That means try it out, and if it ain’t good for ya, then leave it be. There’s plenty of other games out there, and plenty of other ways to spend your time. But if ya can find a game that’s both fun and good for your soul, well, then I reckon ya got yourself a winner.

And remember, whether it is the PlayStation, Xbox, Switch, or even just the old computer, you can find somethin’ good, just gotta look for it. Games nowdays are on all kinds of contraptions, so keep your eyes peeled.
