celeste game review
Okay, so I’ve been hearing a lot about this game called “Celeste”. People keep saying it’s like, the best platformer ever, and I was like, “Yeah, right, we’ll see about that.” I’m a bit of a platformer fanatic, you know? Played them all, from the old-school classics to the latest indie darlings. So, I figured, let’s put this “Celeste” to the test.
First off, I grabbed my Switch, found the game in the store, and downloaded it. I gotta say, the download went pretty quick. Then, I started the game. I was immediately taken by the simple yet beautiful pixel art. It’s got this nostalgic vibe that just pulls you in. The music, man, the music is something else. It’s like, perfectly synced with the gameplay, and it really sets the mood.
I started playing, and I was hooked from the get-go. You play as this girl, Madeline, who’s trying to climb this mountain, Celeste Mountain. Sounds simple enough, right? Wrong! This mountain is full of challenges. I was jumping, dashing, and climbing my way through all sorts of crazy obstacles. And let me tell you, it’s tough, It’s really tough. I died, like, a lot. But here’s the thing, every time I died, I felt like I learned something new. I was getting better, little by little.
- And the levels, oh boy, the levels:
- The first chapter is called “Forsaken City”. I remember struggling with the moving platforms, but finally made it after a dozen attempts.
- Then there was “Old Site”. That was all about those dream blocks you can dash through. That took some time to get used to.
- “Celestial Resort” was a trip. It had these weird keys and locks and these creepy monster things you had to avoid.
I finally get it
I kept pushing forward, and I slowly but surely made my way up the mountain. There are these collectible strawberries scattered throughout the levels, and I’m not gonna lie, I became obsessed with getting them all. Some of them are hidden in really tricky spots, and it felt so rewarding to finally find them.

But it’s not just about the platforming. There’s actually a really touching story here. Madeline is dealing with her own inner demons, and her journey up the mountain is like, a metaphor for her personal struggles. I started to really care about her, you know? I wanted her to succeed, not just in climbing the mountain, but in overcoming her own challenges.
After hours and hours of playing, I finally reached the summit. I won’t spoil what happens, but let’s just say it was an emotional moment. I felt a real sense of accomplishment, like I had actually climbed that mountain myself.
So, yeah, “Celeste” is the real deal. It’s a tough game, no doubt, but it’s also incredibly rewarding. The platforming is top-notch, the music is amazing, and the story is surprisingly deep. It’s one of those games that really stays with you, even after you’ve finished it. If you’re into platformers, or even if you’re just looking for a great game with a heartwarming story, you gotta check out “Celeste”. It’s definitely earned its spot as one of my all-time favorites.
