best turn based strategy games ever

Alright, listen up, y’all. We gonna talk ’bout them best turn-based strategy games ever made. You know, the ones that keep ya up all night, clickin’ and thinkin’ till the rooster crows. Not that fancy shoot-’em-up stuff, but the ones where ya gotta use yer brain, like plannin’ a good corn harvest.

First off, let’s talk ’bout this Civilization 6. Folks say it’s a real humdinger. It’s like buildin’ yer own little world, from nothin’ but dirt to a whole dang empire. You gotta think ’bout where to put yer cities, what crops to grow, and how to keep them pesky neighbors from stealin’ yer chickens, or in this case, yer land. They got this new thing called districts, makes yer cities spread out like a messy quilt, but I guess it works for them city folks.

Now, there’s this other game, somethin’ ’bout Alpha Centauri. Sounds like somethin’ outta a sci-fi movie, all ’bout goin’ to another planet and settlin’ down. Heard it’s made by some fella named Sid Meier, seems like he knows a thing or two ’bout these games. I reckon it’s like movin’ to a new farm, ‘cept instead of cows and pigs, you got robots and aliens. Probably gotta worry ’bout space weeds instead of crabgrass, too.

Then there’s the war games, the ones where ya push little soldiers around on a map. One of ’em is called Unity of Command. It’s all ’bout that big fight in Stalingrad, back in the old days. You gotta move yer tanks and soldiers just right, or else you’ll get whooped. Sounds stressful, like tryin’ to keep them raccoons outta the henhouse, but some folks like that kinda thing.

Another one of them war games is called Order of Battle: Pacific. This one’s ’bout the fightin’ in the Pacific, where them Americans and Japanese were at it. You get to play as either side, which is kinda neat. I reckon it’s like choosin’ whether to be the farmer or the fox in the henhouse, both got their own challenges.

best turn based strategy games ever
  • Civilization 6: Build yer own world from scratch, just like plantin’ a seed and watchin’ it grow.
  • Alpha Centauri: Head to a new planet, kinda like homesteadin’ in space.
  • Unity of Command: Fight the battle of Stalingrad, gotta be smart like a fox.
  • Order of Battle: Pacific: Fight in the Pacific, choose yer side and get to it.

And don’t forget this Total War: Shogun 2. Heard it’s somethin’ fierce, all ’bout them samurai warriors in Japan. Sounds like a lot of sword fightin’ and strategizin’. I bet it’s like a big ol’ rooster fight, but with more folks and sharper blades. I ain’t never seen no samurai, but I reckon they were tough as nails, just like my old mule, Bess.

Now, I ain’t played all these fancy games myself. Too busy tendin’ to the farm, ya know. But I hear the young’uns talkin’ ’bout ’em all the time. They say these are the best strategy games ever. And from what I can gather, they’re all ’bout thinkin’ ahead, plannin’ yer moves, and outsmartin’ yer opponents, just like a good game of checkers, but way more complicated.

Some of these games been around for a while, too. Like this fella mentioned, Eastern Front (1941). Guess folks been likin’ these thinkin’ games since way back when. Just goes to show, whether you’re plannin’ a crop rotation or a military campaign, ya gotta use yer head if ya wanna come out on top. It’s all ’bout makin’ the best decisions ya can with what ya got, kinda like stretchin’ a dollar to feed the whole family.

Illwinter Game Design, that’s the name of the folks who made some of these here games. They must be some smart cookies. I reckon makin’ a game is harder than milkin’ a cow on a cold mornin’. But they seem to have done a good job of it, seein’ as how folks are still playin’ these games after all this time. And it don’t matter if you’re playin’ on a PC or one of them fancy Mac computers, you can still get in on the fun.

So there ya have it, a rundown of them best turn-based strategy games, as best as I can tell. They ain’t for everyone, mind you. Some folks like their games fast and furious, with lots of shootin’ and explosions. But if you like to use yer brain, if you like to plan and strategize, if you like to outsmart yer opponents, then these are the games for you. Just remember to take a break every now and then, ya don’t wanna fry yer brain like an egg on a hot skillet. And don’t forget to water the plants, tend to the animals and make sure them taxes are paid. Real life strategy is important too!

Now, if you’ll excuse me, I gotta go check on them tomatoes. Them critters have been gettin’ at ’em again.
