best strategy games nintendo switch
Alright, alright, let’s talk about them best strategy games on that Nintendo Switch thingy. My grandkid, you know, the one always glued to that screen, he showed me some of these. Said they make you think, like plannin’ where to plant the corn so the chickens don’t eat it all up.
First off, there’s this Civilization 6 game. Folks call it Civ for short, I guess city-folk like them short names. Now, this one’s like buildin’ your own little world, from nothin’ but dirt to big ol’ towns. My grandkid says it’s got expansions now, meanin’ they added more stuff to it. He was goin’ on and on about somethin’ called “districts,” buildin’ different parts of your town separate-like. Sounds like makin’ sure the outhouse ain’t too close to the well, if you ask me.
- Buildin’ stuff
- Thinkin’ ahead
- Managin’ resources, whatever that means
Then there’s this Fire Emblem: Three Houses. Came out a while back, July 26th, my grandkid says. This one’s got more fightin’ in it. You gotta move your fellas around on a map, like checkers but with swords and magic. Reminds me of them old war movies on TV, all that plannin’ and maneuverin’. My grandkid likes it, says it’s about choosin’ sides and buildin’ your army. I told him, “Just like pickin’ a good team for the harvest, gotta have strong backs and smart heads.”
XCOM 2, now that’s a tough one. Even my grandkid gets frustrated with it sometimes. It’s about fightin’ aliens, nasty critters tryin’ to take over. You gotta be real careful with your moves, ’cause if you lose one of your soldiers, they’re gone for good. It’s like losin’ a good cow, hurts your whole operation. This game, it makes you sweat, makes you think three steps ahead. Gotta plan where to shoot, where to hide, who to sacrifice… just like decidin’ which pig to butcher come winter.
My grandkid says playin’ these strategy games makes you smarter. Says it helps your memory and helps you think better, helps with “analytical thinkin’” he called it. I don’t know about all that fancy talk, but I reckon it’s like plannin’ a garden. Gotta know what to plant where, when to water, when to harvest. Gotta think ahead, gotta be patient, gotta be ready for when things go wrong. Just like life, I guess.

These games, they ain’t just for kids, you know. They make you use your brain, make you plan, make you think. And that’s a good thing, whether you’re fightin’ aliens on a screen or just tryin’ to get them tomatoes to grow. It’s all about thinkin’ ahead, makin’ the best choices you can with what you got. And that, as far as I’m concerned, is a good thing for anyone, young or old.
Now, if you’ll excuse me, I gotta go check on them chickens. Them foxes been gettin’ bold lately, and I need a strategy to keep ’em away. Probably gotta move that fence again… always somethin’.
So yeah, if you’re lookin’ for somethin’ to get your brain workin’, try them strategy games on the Nintendo Switch. Might surprise you how much thinkin’ you gotta do. And who knows, maybe you’ll even learn a thing or two about plantin’ corn or fightin’ aliens… or both.
Remember, good strategy is like a good recipe, gotta have the right ingredients, and you gotta know what you’re doin’. Whether it’s Civ, Fire Emblem, XCOM or just plain old farmin’, a little bit of thinkin’ goes a long way.
And don’t go thinkin’ these are just for young’uns. An old gal like me can see the sense in plannin’ ahead, even if it’s just plannin’ my next cup of coffee.
So go on, give them strategy games a try. Just don’t let them keep you up too late. Nothin’ worse than bein’ tired when you got a day of work ahead of you, whether it’s farmin’ or fightin’ aliens… or just tryin’ to figure out what to make for dinner.
One last thing, them games can get complicated. Don’t be afraid to ask for help, even my grandkid needs help sometimes. And remember, the best strategy is the one that works for you.
Now, I’m done talkin’. Go on and play, but don’t forget to eat your vegetables and get some fresh air, all that screen time ain’t good for you. And that’s the truth, plain and simple.
