are remote controllers video game hardware
[Body]
Well, let me tell ya, this whole thing about them “remote controllers” for video games, it’s kinda like askin’ if a hoe is a farm tool. Of course, it is! You can’t play them games without somethin’ to wiggle and push, right?
I seen my grandkids playin’ with them things, all sorts of shapes and sizes. Some got sticks, some got buttons, some even got them wiggly things you push with your thumbs. They call ’em “thumbsticks” or somethin’ fancy like that. Back in my day, we just had sticks and rocks, and we made our own fun!
These controllers, they ain’t just fancy toys, though. They’re the things that let you control the game. You wanna make that little fella on the screen jump? You push a button. You wanna make him run? You wiggle the stick. It’s like drivin’ a tractor, only instead of plowin’ a field, you’re, uh, plowin’ through them digital worlds.
Now, they say these controllers are “hardware”. That just means they’re things you can touch and feel, you know? Like a hammer or a bucket. Not like them thoughts in your head or them songs on the radio. Them’s somethin’ else entirely, somethin’ they call “software”. Sounds complicated to me, but all I know is you need both to make them games work.

- You got the controller, that’s the hardware.
- Then you got the game itself, that’s the software.
Without the controller, you’re just starin’ at a screen, like lookin’ at a blank TV. And without the game, well, the controller is just a hunk of plastic and wires.
They make these controllers outta plastic, mostly. That’s what I heard, anyway. They heat it up real hot and pour it into molds, like makin’ them jelly molds we used to have for church picnics. Then they cool it down and, bam, you got a controller. They put in all sorts of wires and buttons and them little wiggly stick things. It’s a whole process, I tell ya. More complicated than churnin’ butter, that’s for sure.
I seen some controllers that got cords, and some that don’t. Them cordless ones, they use somethin’ they call “Bluetooth” or somethin’ like that. Sounds like magic to me, but I guess it’s just fancy radio waves or somethin’. They use ’em for all sorts of things now, these phones and tablets and whatnots. Seems like everything’s wireless these days. Back in my day, the only wireless thing was the weather!
And these controllers, they ain’t just for them big game boxes, the ones they call “consoles”. You can use ’em on them computers, too. And even them little phones, believe it or not! My grandson, he’s always playin’ games on his phone with a controller. It’s amazing what they can do these days. Makes my old head spin.
So yeah, them remote controllers, they’re definitely part of the video game hardware. Just like the wheels are part of a tractor, or the handle is part of a hoe. You can’t have one without the other. It’s just common sense, really. Even an old woman like me can see that.
Controllers have come a long way, too. I remember hearin’ tell about the first video games, they just had a simple dial and a button. Now, you got all sorts of buttons and sticks and triggers and even rumble packs that shake the controller when somethin’ big happens in the game. They keep addin’ more and more stuff, tryin’ to make it feel real. I guess that’s what the young folks want these days.
And it ain’t just them regular controllers, neither. You got special ones for drivin’ games, look like little steerin’ wheels. And you got them gun-shaped ones for shootin’ games. They even got them mats you stand on for dancin’ games. It’s a whole world of controllers out there, I tell ya. More choices than eggs at the farmers’ market!
So next time someone asks you if them remote controllers are video game hardware, you just tell ’em, “Of course they are! What else would they be?” It’s like askin’ if the sun is hot, or if the water is wet. Some things are just plain obvious.
