ai chat genshin impact

Alright, so I’ve been messing around with this idea of chatting with Genshin Impact characters using AI, and let me tell you, it’s been a wild ride. I wanted to share my whole process, from the initial “huh, wouldn’t that be cool?” to actually making it happen. So, here’s the deal:

The Brainstorm

First, I needed a way to get the AI to, you know, be the character. I figured I needed a bunch of text, like dialogue and lore, so the AI could learn how the character talks and what they know. Started digging through wikis, fan sites, anything I could find, Copy and pasted all sorts of stuff into a big ol’ text file. Think character descriptions, in-game dialogue, even some fan theories – the works!

Building the AI

I grabbed one of those large language models. I’m no AI expert, so I went with one of the popular ones that everyone’s talking about. these are general purpose and not pertained to be anyone, so it is very important that I feed them with the data I collect in order to make them more like real Genshin characters.

And that’s I put my collected materials in it. Took a while. Fingers crossed that the AI “learned” the character!

The First Test (and Many Fails)

Okay, time for the moment of truth. I typed in a simple question, something like, “Hey [Character Name], what do you think of [Another Character]?” And… it was a mess. Sometimes the AI would give a decent answer, other times it would just spit out random game facts or, even worse, totally unrelated nonsense. It was like the character had multiple personalities, none of them quite right.

Tweaking and Troubleshooting

Back to the drawing board. I realized I needed to do a few things:

  • Clean up the data: I went through that massive text file and tried to get rid of anything that wasn’t directly related to the character’s personality or story. Less fan fiction, more official lore.
  • Adjust the settings: I played around with the AI’s “temperature” and other settings. This is like telling the AI how “creative” it’s allowed to be. Too high, and it goes off the rails. Too low, and it sounds like a robot.
  • Give it examples: The AI needed guidance. So I will give it some examples, asking questions and make the answers myself.

This part took the longest. Lots of trial and error, lots of weird responses, and lots of head-scratching. I felt like I was teaching a kid how to roleplay!

Finally, Some Success!

Eventually, I started getting some pretty good results. The AI was actually responding in character! It was using the right phrases, referencing the right events, and even showing some of the character’s quirks. It wasn’t perfect, mind you, but it was definitely believable.

I’m still working on it, of course. There’s always room for improvement. But it’s at a point where I can have a pretty convincing conversation with my favorite Genshin characters, and that’s pretty awesome.

So, that is my whole process to make AI chat with Genshin characters. It is full of trys and errors, but it is all worth it.
