gamo swarm whisper 22 caliber review

Okay, so I finally got my hands on the Gamo Swarm Whisper .22 caliber. I’ve been wanting to try this thing out for ages, especially after hearing all the buzz about its multi-shot capability. So, here’s how it all went down.

Unboxing and First Impressions

First things first, I got the rifle. The box was pretty standard, nothing fancy. Opened it up, and there it was. The rifle felt solid, not too heavy, but definitely not flimsy either. I liked the synthetic stock; it felt comfortable to hold. I also noticed the included scope, which was a nice touch.

Setting it Up

I’m no expert, but I’ve handled a few air rifles before. I read through the manual, it’s always a good idea, you know? It was pretty straightforward. Loaded up the 10-shot rotary magazine, that was a new experience for me. It felt a little weird at first, but I got the hang of it quickly. I mounted the scope, that was the trickiest part, making sure everything was aligned and tightened properly.

Shooting Time!

This is the part I was waiting for. I set up some targets in my backyard. I took my first shot, and wow, that IGT (Inert Gas Technology) piston is something else. Much smoother than the spring-powered rifles I’ve used before. Less recoil, too. The Whisper noise dampener? Yeah, it’s quieter, not silent, but definitely better than some others I’ve tried.

  • Loading: The break barrel action was smooth. Cocking it wasn’t too hard.
  • Shooting: The trigger pull was decent, not too heavy, not too light. Just right for me.
  • Accuracy: I was hitting the targets pretty consistently. Once I got the scope dialed in, it was even better. I’m no sharpshooter, but I was impressed.
  • Multi-Shot: This was the coolest part. No fumbling with pellets after each shot. Just cock, shoot, repeat. Super convenient.

My Thoughts After a Few Sessions

I spent a few days shooting with this thing, trying different pellets, different distances. I even let my buddy try it out; he was impressed too. We spent all afternoon plinking away.

I cleaned and maintained the rifle. Simple, easy to disasemble and a quick wipe, good as new.

Overall, I gotta say, I’m really enjoying the Gamo Swarm Whisper. It’s accurate, relatively quiet, and that multi-shot magazine is a game-changer. It’s not the cheapest air rifle out there, but for what you’re getting, I think it’s worth it. It’s become my go-to for backyard plinking and pest control. I’ve even recommended it to a couple of friends already.
