game dev story console hardware engineer

Alright, let’s talk about my little adventure trying to make a console in Game Dev Story. I thought, “Hey, I’ve made some hit games, time to make my own hardware!” Boy, was I in for a ride.

Getting Started

First things first, I needed some serious cash. Making a console isn’t cheap, you know? So, I churned out a few more games, making sure they were top-notch to rake in the dough. I also made sure to keep training my staff, because I needed them at their best.

The Hardware Engineer

The real kicker was getting a hardware engineer. These guys are rare! I kept hiring and firing, hoping to stumble upon one. It felt like forever, and my bank account was definitely feeling the pressure. I swear, I interviewed a dozen “coders” and “sound engineers” before I finally got lucky.

Finally after many attemps, I got it!

The Console Creation Process

  • Picking the Specs: Once I had my hardware engineer, it was time to design the thing. I went with a decent CPU, a good amount of RAM, and a solid media type. I didn’t want to go too crazy on the first try, figuring I’d play it somewhat safe.
  • Development Hell: This part took forever. My team was working overtime, and I was constantly throwing money at them to keep them motivated. Snacks, drinks, you name it. I even splurged on some new office equipment to boost their stats.
  • Debugging: Every few weeks bugs would pop up! It costs much money and time.
  • The Big Release: After what felt like an eternity, my console was finally ready. I picked a catchy name, set a reasonable price, and launched it. The marketing campaign cost a fortune, but I figured it was worth it.

The Results

Honestly, my first console was… okay. It didn’t exactly set the world on fire, but it didn’t flop either. I made a small profit, which was a relief. I have learned that make the console needs tons of money. I need to be richer. More than that, I have to improve my team’s ability.
