game of thrones season one review
Okay, so I finally decided to jump on the “Game of Thrones” bandwagon. I know, I know, I’m super late to the party, but better late than never, right? I started with Season One, and here’s how it all went down.
Getting Started
First, I had to figure out where to even watch it. Luckily I subscribe HBO, so I watched it from there. I cleared my schedule, made some popcorn, and got comfy on the couch. Ready to dive in!
The Binge-Watching Process
Episode 1: “Winter Is Coming”. Man, was that a lot to take in! So many characters and families to keep track of. I spent half the time pausing and checking the online wiki just to figure out who was who and how they were related. The Starks, the Lannisters, the Targaryens… my head was spinning! But that ending? Definitely hooked me.
- I literally rewound that last scene a couple of times. Crazy!
Episodes 2-5: I started getting the hang of things. I made a little cheat sheet with the main families and their sigils (I’m a visual learner, okay?). I was really getting into the Stark family drama, and Tyrion Lannister quickly became my favorite – he’s hilarious and super smart. I spent a few nights staying up way too late because I just had to watch one more episode.
- Side note: the costumes and sets are incredible. It really felt like I was transported to another world.
Episodes 6-9: Things got intense, fast. I won’t spoil anything, but let’s just say I went through a rollercoaster of emotions. I yelled at the TV, I gasped, I might have even shed a tear or two. I was fully invested in these characters and their stories, I texted all my friends who had already watched it, freaking out about certain plot twists. They just laughed and said, “Keep watching!”

- The plot thickens, and my god.
Episode 10: “Fire and Blood”. All I can say is… WOW. That finale was epic. I finished it late at night and just sat there in silence for a few minutes, processing everything. I immediately wanted to start Season Two, but I forced myself to go to bed. It was tough, though!
Final Thoughts
So, yeah, Season One of “Game of Thrones” totally lived up to the hype, even if it took me years to get on board. It’s a complex, thrilling, and sometimes brutal show, but it’s also incredibly well-made and captivating. I’m officially a fan, I’m ready to tackle the rest of the series. Wish me luck – I have a feeling it’s going to be a wild ride!
